Hey everyone, I've checked the fuse and replaced it. I also replaced both bulbs and STILL no reverse lights. Anything else I could check? Anyone else have a problem with their reverse lights? Thanks in advance. /Derrick | | | 07-04-2007, 10:44 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | There is a switch on the side of the transmission. Very common failure. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 07-04-2007, 11:41 PM | #3 | Member Join Date: Jun 2007 Location: Burlington, VT Posts: 62 | Is it hard to change out? Would you happen to have a part number? /Derrick | | | 07-04-2007, 11:55 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | It easy for me. I paid my shop to do it. A lift would make it easy. On my car it was on the side of the transmission. Why not just get the part from BMW? __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 07-06-2007, 02:45 AM | #6 | Member Join Date: Jun 2007 Location: Burlington, VT Posts: 62 | I got it at the dealership today. I believe that it is a common problem on the ti. I agree with 1996 328ti and go ahead and change it. I think it cost like 10 bucks or somthing close. Its on the drivers side and all you have to do it remove the connector boot(which has a safety clip) and then just use a wrench to get it out. Easy job. Good luck. | +1. Easy job. Did mine in ~15 minutes with the front of the car on ramps. Just look for the black wire going to the side of transmission. The only tricky part is the retaining clip on the plug. It was on the top side of my plug, so I couldn't see it. If you can't see it, just feel around for it. Squeeze it toward the center of the plug body and pull the plug out of the trans, then swapping the switch is like changing a spark plug. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
