Default left signal works right wont!!!

ill start from what i know. before i bought the car it was in a front end collision that had been repaired. an accident is evident as the bull heads up front on the chassis werent straight and had slight wrinkles. turn signals worked for about 6 months, but for the past 6 months ive had nothing. im not selling the ti and im fixing most of the serious stuff and the turn signal happens to be a serious thing. i checked fuses last night and replaced the blown ones, now only left works right wont. i tried to check power to the front right turn signal with a tested. with clamp placed on the + side of battery and pin on - end of socket i see power in the line, with clamp on - terminal and pin placed on + end of socket my cooling fan kicks on. i pulled the harness out and am going to reference my good old pall mitchel on demand today at the shop see if i can spot a problem. any body ever has something like this go wrong?

so far last night i had torn apart my wiring harness from the fauty signals to the fuse box and didnt really see anything wrong.

none of my signals on the right side work.

thanks in advance,
Sam

i think indicators generally use a relay to do the blinking ..(if its not fuses and the indicator stalk itself) try search for "indicator relay , turn signal relay" .. just a suggestion .. as this thing happened to me on my Mercedes and it was not a good prognosis cause they built the relays into the main ecu arrg !!!..

id imagine the relay would be fine since one side is working and im sure either signal runs off the same relay but i will check it out. i believe that is one of the pita relays under the steering wheel.

you should be able to hear it clicking on and off.. I would of thought if there is just 1 relay they would have to wire it up in such a way so it can run both sides. some kind of multiple 6pin relay that relays the power out two sets of terminals depending on which side it was switched from, i think its called 2way switching hehe.. so maybe that is where there is a wiring / connection problem.. or 1 side of it is not working ..

btw do your indicators work via the hazard warning switch ?

if i use the hazard switch its just left side lighting up too. no clicking sound when i apply the right signal. no lights no clicks :P i know what clicks to look for and its just not there. im about to head out to work in a minute ill try messing with it today and see if it is a relay or do you guys think it could be the wires that rest under the hatch got cut? it would make sense since my reverse lights werent working till i replaced the fuse for that yesterday too.

turn signal flasher/relay was bad. turns out its 2 seperate flashers built into one. bap wanted 60 bucks for a damn relay. good thing i have a cousin who has a junk yard and i keep convincing him to bring e36's so i took one from one of his cars free.. lol.
i tried a few from autozone and checker.. they wont work because they wont carry a flasher that will light up up to 6 lights... turns out we have 6 signals on 96+ bimmers. lol 2 front 2 side and 2 back.

i am having electrical issues with my blinkers also. there is something wrong with my drivers side front blinker. when my headlights are off all blinkers work normally. when my headlights are on all the blinker lights turn on but none of the blinkers flash when i use the turn signal. when i remove the bulb from the drivers side front corner and turn the headlights on all the blinkers work again (except for the drivers side front bc it has no bulb). any ideas what could be causing this? could it be the same issue involving the relay?

doubt thats a relay. that sounds more like a wiring problem. on a side note my aux fan stays on when there is a bulb in my front right turn socket.. but thats nothing to worry about now that im parting the car.

Kelly, check the ground for the corner light. If the ground is bad it will ground back thru the headlight--but can't do that when the headlights are on.
