Bought it from the original owner last November when it had 130k. Motor was replaced under warranty @107k, PO included maintenance records verifying the motor swap and complete sevice history. So far I've had to rebuild the secondary air pump, replace the o2 sensors, a cracked radiator, alternator, battery, foglights and emblems. I need to replace the 2 plastic cowls at the base of the windshield, the exterior weatherstrip at the bottom of the driver's side window, wiperblades and the driver's side window regulator and air intake rubber flexboot. PO replaced shocks/struts/mounts/springs, brakes, cat & muffler and a bunch of micelaneous small parts. Car was bone stock when I got it, and since I've installed Z3 H&R Race springs, DS1's but switched to 17" style 42's with Michelin Pilot sports, euro clears all around, honeycomb mesh lower grille, M3 mirrors, Blaupunkt Casablanca HU and 10 disc changer, Orion amp and 10" sub(waiting to get new component speakers to install), Sparco globe shift knob and an M3 front lip(needs to be installed). Saving for Reiger Cup front lip, OEM Mtechnic rear spoiler, paintjob and an Mcoupe donor. __________________ 4 MORE YEARS BABY!!! | | | 09-03-2007, 01:09 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2007 Location: Erie Pa Posts: 161 | 181436. cat failed/ clogs up and causes the car to stall below 1k rpm's. but other than that its runs perfect. | | | 09-03-2007, 02:48 PM | #5 | Member Join Date: Aug 2007 Location: South Carolina Posts: 96 | 148000, had it for about two months. PO didn't take any care at all of the car. I replaced the original fuel filter, spark plugs, put in an Ansa exhaust, and am in the process of replacing the camshaft sensor. For an 11 year old car, I'd say thats pretty darn good! | | | 09-03-2007, 06:08 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: PA Posts: 822 | 256991 on my 97...clutch replaced at about 150,000, Ignition switch was replaced about a month ago, and the only other thing major I can think of is the flange that broke and was leaking antifreeze. So I replaced every hose and flange for the cooling system. __________________ Clever but we are clueless... Then it will be time for the engine swap. __________________ custom dual exhaust,M3 front and rear bumper, 10.4 inch roof mount drop screen, Viper alarm system, DSII's rims, M3 Vader Seats, M3 Mirrors, Carbon Fiber CAI, Smoked Corners, Side Markers, Leatherz armrests, black grilles 225k miles and still the Ti goes on | | | 09-03-2007, 07:29 PM | #8 | Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: The Netherlands Posts: 33 | Mine is 104.401 miles (reads 168.014 km). Not much trouble, only had to replace a starter and a window regulator, but I also did an inspection II myself, and changed brake pads/rotors, misc hoses, etc as preventative maintenance. This is a reliable vehicle and see no reason it won't make 200 or 250k miles if well maintained. | | | 09-04-2007, 12:37 AM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: N. Super reliable car that I will not get rid of unless it gets totaled or I run out of parts to fix it with, which hopefully will be never. | | | 09-05-2007, 05:19 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: Southern California Posts: 208 | 140,XXX miles I purchased the car from the 2nd owner in May of 2006 with 129,XXX miles. Since then I have only had to replace my flasher relay which was about $60. Other than that everything is near mint and the car runs like a champ (knock on wood). I plan on keeping this car for a very long time. | | | 09-05-2007, 06:28 PM | #13 | Member Join Date: Jan 2007 Location: SW Michigan Posts: 90 | 22,500 miles - no problems - '98 M-Sport. | | | 09-05-2007, 06:51 PM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: 43609 Posts: 3,425 | 202,xxx miles Replaced engine, cooling system, driver side trailing arm, diff mounting plate, slave cylinder.
