Default Autocross video's from the Glen Region

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFYALNk64iM

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9IV-jwVR30

Check out these 2 videos my son (teen ti) made of our last 2 autocrosses in upstate New York. We have put Ventus rs-3's on the car and have been exploring the limits of them. The first is us side-by side, he had the fastest run in G-Street, beating a Focus ST that had won Pax the previous week by over a second, but was disallowed because the course was breaking up and had to be changed. He & the focus had already completed all of their runs. Second Video is of him on Fathers Day kicking my A**. He finished 4th in Pax and beat all of the Street(used to be stock) cars except a Mitsubishi Evo. I finished 11th in Pax and 2nd to him, (by 1 1/2 seconds) in G-Street. At least we are having some success on the regional level with the ti! It really is a fun car to throw around the autocross course!

No, We only do solo's around our area of the finger lakes in upstate New York. The Meadowlands is about a 4 hour drive for us. We like to keep our drives to and from events to under an hour as the car is not really set up for highway driving.

Nice driving.

I'm doing the same thing on my 318ti. I usually run at the Meadowlands since that is where I'm local at. I've got a few videos on my own build thread and many more on my YouTube channel.

What do you mean that your car isn't set up for highway driving? I thought you were running GS?

We are running GS, but we have as much camber that is allowed dialed into the front, as well as the Ventus tires up to pressure as we don't really have a good air pump to take with us. The muffler is only classified as a muffler because it is on the car, it is swiss cheese and very loud. I like it that way for the autocross because I can hear the engine rev's better, but it makes a long drive rather noisy!

I hear you on the loud tires. I'm on Star Specs and they roar above 50. Very grippy and I still hit inside cones from turning in to much with them.

I'm not sure of the new street rules, but how much camber do you have dialed in? The camber correction bolts shouldn't give you more than a degree of camber, which isn't that much at all. I'm running camber shims and that has thrown me into STX.

I'm running as much camber as the correction bolts allow. The Ventus tires are also loud as well as that muffler. I know I should get it fixed but I like the sound of it when we run! The tires though, have SO much grip! Especially he hotter it gets. We are still experimenting with tire pressures as well what their limits are.

Any new events you've been to, Joe?

Are you thinking of going to the Philly SCCA event held at Pocono Raceway on August 10th? That is the next event I'll be able to attend and it'd be nice to meet some members!

Above is my sons (teen ti) fastest run of the day on Sunday the 27th. (He doesn't like to take the time to post mine). We were at a local college with about 35 participants. We didn't have a very good day. He was 5th in Pax and I was 9th in Pax. We both struggled with the last hairpin on the course, the car was pushing a lot through there and if we slowed down enough to get rid of the push, we were too low in the powerband in second gear to get a good pull off the corner for the finish. I know we could have shifted but I have not had a lot of luck trying that and seem to lose more time that way. We had a much better run a few weeks ago at a local short track. A 5/8ths mile concrete oval that had TONS of grip. We finished 2nd and 3rd in Pax. Unfortunately we are unable to make it to Pocono because of our schedules but it sounds interesting. Please post on how you do there & good luck!

Two links above are of our last runs of the season in the Glen region solo season. The first is my son's winning run in G Street where he beat a Focus ST by about a tenth of a second. The second is my run, very, very slow. My son finished first in G Street for the season and second in PAX overall for the season. We has serious difficulties at this solo because it was only about 50 degrees and very windy. (We were in the infield lot at WGI, any one who has been there on the first weekend in October knows what I am talking about) The tires were stone cold and would never really warm up. The lovely push that we were able dial out throughout the season reared its ugly head again! It really did show us how much those Hankook Ventus RS3's helped us out this year. We are hoping to do some suspension and brake system refreshing over the winter. We have decided to stay in the street class as we will be moving down to H Street next season.
