It appears that the price not be close to as high as any seller I've seen online. The bumper will be the stock M3 4 door molded out of polypropylene (PP). Here's a pic. Ok, looks like this will be about $250 + s/h. I'm still not 100% sure about the final cost but let's say this is a rough estimate. Minimum order is 5, of course cost will be significantly cheaper with more orders. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Just put your name next to the next available number if you're definitely going to do this. If you have questions, let me know and I'll ask. EDIT: I don't have time to run this group buy in addition to the HID one, so if anyone wants to do this, PM me and I'll give you the details to resume this buy. Sorry. I suggest someone from the West Coast take it over since the shipping from Asia to there is much less than to the NYC seaport. | | | 01-18-2007, 04:45 AM | #2 | Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Cleveland, Ohio Posts: 32 | I'm interested. | | | 01-18-2007, 06:40 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: North Bay, Northern California Posts: 251 | School just started and I've got things to pay for...but I would be interested... | | | 01-18-2007, 12:36 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Central NJ Posts: 2,440 | Quote: Originally Posted by Flava Flav | This bumper is made of PP, not PU. Edit: Right now it's not $100 less, but with 10 people it will get closer (due to shipping costs). | | | 01-18-2007, 03:16 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: Cincinnati Posts: 890 | I'd do it for around $100 cheaper. __________________ SOLD!!! 1999 332ti //M Sport Titanium Silver M3 S52 3.2 I-6 Engine, M3 Clutch w/ ti Getrag Trans, Z3 3.15 LSD medium case diff and half shafts, OEM Hatch Spoiler, Eurosport HP Underdrive Pulleys, FDM, 17" DS1 rims, M3 Front Struts & Springs, M3 Instrument Cluster, 3-spoke //M steering wheel with tri-color stitching, SSK, CCFL Angels in Depo projectors with 5k HIDs | | | 01-18-2007, 04:14 PM | #7 | Member Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: Québec Posts: 43 | Interested... __________________ Mark *1995 BMW 318ti ACTIVE (with Bilstein HD's and Mtechnics) *1991 PORSCHE 964 Targa (with '97 993 VRAM engine & 6 spd tranny) | | | 01-18-2007, 05:21 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Saint Paul, MN Posts: 3,244 | There is no way that is made of polypropylene. PP is waxy, has low melt/flex point and most of all will not hold paint. PP is what most shampoo bottles are made of. Check this out, think you must be misinformed. OEM are probably ABS or PU. PU comes in all different durometers (flexibility) including the self skinning, flexible variety some spoilers are made of. __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | 01-18-2007, 05:24 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Saint Paul, MN Posts: 3,244 | Quote: Originally Posted by Flava Flav | Quoted fom th bf.c link above: "These are OE quality bumpers, made from OE materials. Moot point as the e36 is listed as PU. __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | 01-18-2007, 09:16 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Central NJ Posts: 2,440 | Yeah, for that group buy. My dad has a PhD in polymer physics and I work with him over the summer in his research center at Rutgers University. In fact I have a patent involving a blend of PU + others in order to create a fire retardant that sticks to polyethylene. I know that PP has a low melting point, but as long as the polymerization is created in a way that there are long enough chains, it will be fine for a bumper. OEM is made out of ABS. | | | 01-18-2007, 10:26 PM | #11 | Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: laveen,az Posts: 50 | Quote: Originally Posted by campaiar I'd do it for around $100 cheaper. | x2 __________________ Fully Stock, Base Model Just like I like them. I want to see paint stick to the PP e46 part though. There is a reason OEM is ABS despite PP being much less expensive. __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | 01-19-2007, 12:30 AM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Central NJ Posts: 2,440 | Yeah that's true...
