Default What to do about the hose

As I consider fabricating some sort of cold air intake on my 97 ti, I have two issues that I hope someone can help me address. One is where to mount the air sensor on a new CAI, and two, is what to do with that one inch rubber hose that comes forward from some type of canister into the old filter box. Do I make a fitting in the CAI tubing somewhere to accommodate it, or just cap it?
I have bits and pieces of a Dinan CAI, (carbon fiber), and plan on machining a fitting that would receive the air sensor, and (with your advice) possibly that one inch hose in question. I could see the filter sitting somewhere behind the headlight assembly. Is that enough isolation from the engine area to achieve any gain by having a CAI?
If anyone has any advice or pictures of a slick CAI installation that he/she would like to share, I would be most grateful.
Thanks,
Steve Lewis - Chicago

the hose is part of the secondary air pump, don't cap it, but you can buy a little breather filter from any chain store and stick it on the end of the hose, or just find a way to attach it to the intake pipe

for the air sensor I think you just have to make a fitting on the pipe, not sure if it matters where it is but on my Dinan intake it's about right in the center of the pipe

without a heatshield it will suck up hot engine air if it's just behind the headlight, there is a hole underneath the air box that you can stick the filter in, you just have to relocate one of the horns, don't go down to low though, or you'll run the risk of sucking water through the intake and hydrolocking your motor

this thread is referring to modifying a different intake and a different engine, but does have some pretty decent ideas, that's a pretty good spot to mount the filter

Default Thank you!

Thanks for taking the time inform and help me in such a comprehensive way. I am new to all this, and most likely this issue has been addressed many times before, so your patience is appreciated.
