You need to run on 17 to clear them... Check the local junkyard. On my Z3 I replaced the 286 solid with 300mm vented off of a E46 328 and you definetely notice a difference. The E46 330i has 323 (IIRC again) on the rear which might fit the E36 as well... IMHO going with the M3 setup is too much work... __________________ 2003 Z4 2.5i 2002 Ducati Monster S4 | | | 08-06-2009, 06:21 PM | #347 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Quote: Originally Posted by lpcapital Or you could go the cheaper way and get some front calipers and carriers off of a 330i which are (IIRC) 325mm... It's the E46 328i set... 300mm rotors instead of 286. | | | 08-07-2009, 03:48 AM | #350 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Auburn, WA Posts: 1,814 | get m3 brakes all around __________________ 5/96 318TI Sport BIG TURBO | | | 08-07-2009, 04:28 AM | #351 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Central NJ Posts: 2,440 | M3 brakes don't fit the back. You can get M coupe brakes if you also get the M coupe carriers though. | | | 08-07-2009, 04:33 AM | #352 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Auburn, WA Posts: 1,814 | he has an 318is so yeah they fit __________________ 5/96 318TI Sport BIG TURBO | | | 08-07-2009, 04:41 AM | #353 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Central NJ Posts: 2,440 | Oops... Get some Hawk HPS pads, or if you want an even more intense pad get HP+ There will be dust, but there is no way to have that great pedal feel and fast action without a dusty pad. try them out at least, if you've never been in a car with serious pads its worth a try | | | 08-07-2009, 07:39 AM | #355 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Central NJ Posts: 2,440 | I run HP+ on my E46 328i rotors and it still isn't even close to how good they could be with Wilwoods or something... | | | 08-07-2009, 03:35 PM | #356 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Forget the brakes I just had a bad issue where the turbo ran away on me and boosted over 32psi and blew the hose off the MAF sensor. I need a boost controller before I get brakes... New aluminum hose caused this the old boot to the TB was leaking bad. Now I got the manual controller hooked up right so this doesn't happen again. Car started breaking loose the tires at over 50mph, it was pulling so hard I was waiting for it to blow up....Very addictive I wonder if I can just start running 35psi boost from now on | | | 08-07-2009, 04:01 PM | #357 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: MA Posts: 163 | no I dont think you should run 35psi. I would be careful, I would think the motor would knock a lot on 25+psi with 93 oct fuel, even with meth. | | | 08-07-2009, 04:33 PM | #358 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Quote: Originally Posted by Danny318 no I dont think you should run 35psi. I'm sticking with 25psi since I need to get 100,000 miles out of this motor before I send it back to Metric as a core. I am amazed that the motor took it and is still runing, my injectors are not even close for that much boost although I did dump a 500hp shot of methenol on it. I'm convinced Metric makes a solid motor cause no street BMW 4-cylinder should have to see 32psi ever...
