I will take some high quality pictures of the head since it will have the new springs I'm testing for Metric. Today I'm pulling the balancer, replacing the timing chain guide (right), replacing gaskets, installing head, degreeing camshafts and installing as much as possible on the motor for the install...More to come with pictures. UPS has been delivering early here lately so I hope to hear "Brown" trucking up the road soon | | | 08-26-2009, 05:14 PM | #440 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2008 Location: Central Florida Posts: 678 | Looking forward to seeing pics.... Hayabusa valve springs! JUST SICK!... Not to forget that we will be expecting some Utube vids of the beast as well. __________________ 2LT Rodriguez CA ARNG TURBO 96' Sport, Alaska Blue, Auto Custom JohnBoy Turbo, Midnight-Tunning Software, HKS BOV, e-Pod Gauge Pod, BavAuto Springs, Bilstein Sport, e30 3.73 LSD, Depo P36, Apexcone 55w HID, OEM Spoiler, M3 Lip, M3 Mesh Grill, Crossdrilled Rear Rotors, M3 Front Brakes, Sparco 3 point Harness, Euro M3 Wheel, K&N cone, Clear Corner/Sides/Tails, M3 Center Console & Arm-rest, M3 Red Cluster Needles, M3 Mirrors & Side Skirts, RD Exhaust, DS-1 wheels!... | | | 08-27-2009, 06:03 PM | #441 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | MM parts arrived but I'm missing parts from the loacl dealer so it can't go together until tomorrow. I will get pictures of new springs and keepers from the Drag Busa motorcycle they put on the head and maybe a DIY on degreeing cams the correct way; for performance, not BMW's way of both cam ends pointing up ... | | | 08-28-2009, 04:13 PM | #442 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: Europe Posts: 136 | nice, we all want to see what that engine is capable to do! I'm on vacation so no working on the car, all I need is to cut the oil lines from and to the scavenge pump and make the wiring for the pump Next week I will return home to work a few days to solve last bits. How many revs is claimed to reach your new valvetrain? | | | 08-28-2009, 07:33 PM | #443 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Quote: Originally Posted by nuvolarossa nice, we all want to see what that engine is capable to do! How many revs is claimed to reach your new valvetrain? | 15,000 rpm. I will only take it to 7,900, they are over-kill for my motor on rpms...The springs allow much higher lift without coil bind too which was a issue with the old springs. You can now run a bigger cam on these motors | | | 08-29-2009, 07:08 AM | #444 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: MA Posts: 163 | what limits you to 7,900? How did you decide on that limit, or even your previous limit? Why not 8,400 ? Just wondering what you use to figure out the limit or decide on it. | | | 08-29-2009, 07:53 AM | #445 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2005 Location: Seattle Posts: 181 | Harmonic balancer will explode above that | | | 08-29-2009, 06:12 PM | #446 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Quote: Originally Posted by Danny318 what limits you to 7,900? My cams make all their power before 8,000 rpm so why spin it higher. This is a street car so it has to have a decent idle Edit ~ Here's a better explaination. I pick the rev lititer by where the engine starts to loose power in the uper rpm range. Due to the cams I run the motor makes it's hp and torque in the lower rpm range so the motor make little power over 8,200 rpm... I guess I just want to know which component will fail first if you rev 'too high'. | | | 08-30-2009, 04:18 AM | #448 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Took her out for a ride for about 10 minutes. Ran real good but I lost a oil hose going to the cooler and when I tried to fix that I broke the fitting on the scavenger pump I have a spare fitting I put in a real good safe place...I've been looking for it about 2 hours now. 60# injector tune is good but should get better with some adaption values | | | 08-31-2009, 07:12 PM | #449 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2008 Location: Oceanside, CA Posts: 421 | Quote: Originally Posted by xxxJohnBoyxxx [B]I have a spare fitting I put in a real good safe place...I've been looking for it about 2 hours now.[b] | I't usually in the last place you look for it __________________ 2003 Z4 2.5i 2002 Ducati Monster S4 | | | 08-31-2009, 07:25 PM | #450 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Florida Posts: 2,525 | Quote: Originally Posted by Danny318 makes sense. On the MM motors a lot of the parts are intended to go well above 8k RPM and still survive. Mostly intended to give you some insurance in case you money shift. Their motors should be much more capable of enduring a momentary overrev. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
