Hello,
my M42 have approximately 190000 km ----> 120000 miles
the valve retainers is hydro lift,

I think that at 180000 km
the 16 hydro lift
they must be replaced
because they emit a sound....a bad sound!
especially with cold motor...

If the game of valve is wrong,
the flame of combustion one extend within the culverts
of aspiration
and drainage...
therefore the valve are burnt!!!!!!

at 180000 km
I think that it is better
to replace also a chain tensioner...

this in european motor
whit 95 ron unlead

however this is a good motor,
the max speed at 175000 km
has been 225 km/h -----> 140 Mph
very good!

excuse my english...

I blew a valve on my motor about a year ago. Do a good rebuild and you will not have to worry about it again.

ok,
thanks,

but I have a question:
after you have replacement the 16 valve,
whit
old piston rings
and new valve,

the oil consumption was excessive?

before,
my M42 like a 1 litre of castrol oil every 3500 4000 km............
