Default What's missing from my transmission tunnel?

I don't have my to with me right now but have a question looking back at it.

When I was under it, the black fabric over the driveshaft right after the guibo was hanging down and rubbed through the paint on the driveshaft.

Here is a bad picture of the area. The rubbed paint is just off the picture to the right. You are looking at the guibo from under the car. I know it is leaking oil from the valve cover.

Is there supposed to be a shield holding the black fabric up?

I had the same problem, that heatshield is held with 4 screws on the lower portiuon, but over time the shield loses rigidity and sags, I used two small self tapping screws and big washers on the upper portion.

So what you're saying is that the black fabric is the heatshield?

I guess I'll get back under the car once I'm home from school and find a way to hold the fabric back up again.

Pretty much, is meant to block heat AND noise from getting into the cabin.

There is nothing missing. Overtime that fabric gets saggy and you have driveshaft contact. Doesn't really hurt anything. You'll need to get creative to eliminate the sag.

No noise. It definitely polished the driveshaft real well.

I'll just find some plastic clips and figure out a way to clip it back up. The car is at home and I'm at college, so it will still be a while until I initiate a fix. I'm collecting parts in the meantime to get this thing running properly though.
