Default Power Steering Leak...

I was spinning donuts and drifting the other night and then as I was getting gas I noticed a squeaking as I was turning hard...I noticed a leak and by the time I was all gased up I lost complete power steering...

Besides parking I actually like no power steering but I think I should fix it...from what I've described does it sound like a hose or a pump failure?

open the hood and look in the reservoir for starters...

if there is no fluid, obviously check for a blown line.
if you were working the steering hard, and your cooling line (? the metal one) is corroded - like mine was - that extra pressure may have blown it.... it could be possible you did something to your steering rack as well.

hard to say until you look at it.

i highly doubt it would be the pump, if it worked fine, they usually don't just quit on a dime.... i replaced one with my m44 and it howled like a bitch before replacement, as does my M52 one when it gets low on fluid. I have a slow leak myself.

i also wouldn't recommend running it if there no fluid... if your pump isn't the issue, running it like that for long will certainly not be good for it - and probably isn't good for the rack itself whatsoever.

I had the same problem last fall (I was commuting, not doing donuts) it wound up being a loose connection at the bottom of the pump.
