When I took the door panel off a M6x10mm hex head bolt came out. Of course I am thinking the bolt is related to this problem. Everything appears to be connected, though. So I popped off one white slider off the arm and put the window back on the guides. I looked this over completely and can't find where this bolt came from. Last year I had a bunch of drivers side window problems which I have sorted out. I even replaced the rear guide. But this looks like the window might have come off the front guide. Unfortunately I can't see if it's bolted into the door or just welded in. Does anyone know? | | | 01-08-2008, 03:22 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: state college, pa Posts: 3,431 | There are three rivets that attach the regulator arms to the window frame. Usually, if you've had this replaced by the dealer they will go back in with bolts to secure it. Generally, this means you would find a nut too. There is also a bolt that holds the rear track in place. You have to remove one of the rubber bungs toward the rear to access it, but you can see if from the large hole with the window up. It is near the bottom of the metal track. __________________ I scream, you scream, we all scream for ZOMBIES. | | | 01-08-2008, 04:53 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: Oxford, Ohio Posts: 868 | Strike 1 and 2... The regulator looks original and is still riveted in place. I did the rear track before on the Drivers side. So I checked that bolt and it was there on the operator side... also it is a lot longer than 10mm. On Realoem it shows there are 6 og these bolts used somewhere in the door. See item 23. By the way, what is item 21? Any other ideas? http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...55&hg=51&fg=10 | | | 01-08-2008, 07:08 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: state college, pa Posts: 3,431 | The bolts I know about are 3 and 14. I think 21 is for manually operated windows? __________________ I scream, you scream, we all scream for ZOMBIES. | | | 01-08-2008, 01:41 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: Oxford, Ohio Posts: 868 | Item 3 is definitely in place... 14, too. What about item 16? Is this for the front window guide? Like I said, I can't find any way the metal frame for the front guide is bolted to the door. It's buried pretty well, though. Any help on my mystery bolt is appreciated. Thanks! | | | 01-08-2008, 11:34 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: state college, pa Posts: 3,431 | I think 16 is for manual windows as well. __________________ I scream, you scream, we all scream for ZOMBIES. | | | 01-09-2008, 04:14 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: Oxford, Ohio Posts: 868 | I took some pictures: Regulator (looks good as new, eh?) You can see the rivets. Rear Guide, you can see the bolt is in place. Front guide... is this bolted in?? | | | 01-10-2008, 08:57 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: Oxford, Ohio Posts: 868 | By the way... never mind about this. I have the widow apart and I'll see if anything is loose. Maybe the bolt was left behind by a funny German assembler. Also I found out that items 21 and 16 are for the coupe, not manual window. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
