Unhappy What's that whining sound?

Is it the transmission or my differential that makes a light whining when I put the car in gear and begin driving. I can hear it even more with the windows down. Does it mean I need to change my fluid or add some? I have a 96' Active w/auto trans. M44 engine. Please advise. Also when I am on my way to work first thing in the morning sometimes the transmission seems to slip, because I am stiing at the traffic light and I have the car in gear but the engine just revs and then the transmission finally engages then boom! It takes off. ???

I wish I had a Supercharger! There are a lot of ricers here that need to be bought back to reality...with their body bondo, party favor mufflers and has anyone checked with NASA to see if any the shuttles are missing any wings? Because these dudes don't know when to stop with the mods. I have even spotted a FORD ASTRO van with a huge muffler on it. lol.

Don't diss the astros!!! I wanted to get one to practice working on and drive it through the winter. Not all ricers are serious either... My friend has a 2002 323ci and his winter car is a geo metro with a coffee can exhaust topped with speakers bigger than the car and some Bling bling walmart spinners!! haha. He is building a custom turbo set up for it for fun. altough he loves bimmers he loves how ****ty his metro is and just beats the piss out of it...well tries to..

ricers do serve their purpose thow, they are my source of entertainment every weekend, me and my buddies just sit at taco bell on the Wash (local cruising spot) and just watch all those idiots race their weedwacker powered cars, its funny as hell.
