I was really bummed to hear about this. I've thought about doing the DASC for years and I'm not sure if I was ever going to do it or not. Now that it's not going to be an option it's really pissing me off for some reason. I think it's partly because as the years are going by the few companies that bothered to make ti specific upgrades have stopped. From a business standpoint I can understand that, but it still sucks it.
+1

I was actually looking at the Downing Atlanta and understeer websites when bimmer95 first started this thread (thank you, tax rebate and sale of house). Not really interested in a swap. And KO Performance doesn't seem like a real option. Looks like I'll just get some Kosei wheels on closeout at TireRack, and hope something comes up in the meantime. But I'm not holding my breath (or saving my pennies...)

Yep. I'm pretty much done with upgrades at this point anyway. I'll probably go ahead and get a chip now (Technique Tuning probably), but there isn't really much else I want to do to the car. I still have a couple of other small projects but they're mostly cosmetic. I just realized that this probably means that the kit they just came out with for the E30 318 won't be available anymore either. I was very seriously considering that for my project car. Oh, well. Saves me money in the long run I guess.

It's all normal tools, nothing BMW specific. Your CEL shouldn't come on as long as everything is installed properly.

Well, finished installing the DASC earlier today! Wow, what a difference. It's about 57 degress outside and the car is pulling good. I've got a few minor adjustments to make tomorrow after I detail my car.

Btw, I have a question for you DASCed guys. Where did you all connect your boost guage line too? I connected mine to the vacuum line that goes from the TB to the bypass actuator. It shows vacuum, but when I give it gas, it doesn't show positive boost, it just goes to 0.

There should be an extra nipple on the manifold to tap in to, right next to the one running to the RRFPR or T off of the line running to it. The line that the runs to the bypass valve has a factory check valve in the middle of it, hence no boost reading.

That extra nipple on the manifold has a line running to the stock Fuel Pressure Regulator. Is that the one you're talking about? Just want to make sure so I don't tap into the wrong one.

Default DASC Renewed

Yesterday (6/3/2008) I got an email from Jim at Downing Atlanta advising me that the DASC for 318ti is available and all parts are currently in stock. So I can only assume these kits are once again available.

Huh, thats odd. I actually just found out last night that these were discontinued on underteer.com and then ironically this thread popped up. I really hope that they find a way to keep these going, Id do a swap but Id much rather go this route when the time comes. Anyone else hear anything like this?

I assume since it came from someone who works at downing atlanta that it's legit, that'd be pretty cool if they're still going to make it, although, if eaton discontinued the actual supercharger that was used in the dasc, they must have reworked it to use a different supercharger
