Default M42 cylinder head upgrade questions

I am rebuilding an m42 head and I want to upgrade to the 6mm valve stems from the m44 (lighter weight). Does anyone know if the valves are the same length? If you look at the MM motors they do the same but they use more expensive valves (custom made). I am looking to just order stock m44 valves. Anyone know if they will work?
Thanks
Lee

Later M42 engines have 6mm valve stems. I believe the change was made when they put that engine in the E36 chassis.
If you have 7mm valve stems, your head is from an older m42 engine (E30).
But this does not matter. You don't need to go to M44 valves, just later M42 valves/guides/seals.
If I remember right, the valves on these engines are very expensive, especially the exhaust valves. Are you sure you want to go this route?

Call Metric Mechanic and ask them. They will share information for free.

I run Volvo valves in my motor with Hyabusa race motorcycle springs so they would know what will fit what. I have a M44 head. I'm running a big turbo motor so I needed a special application due to the boost I'm running

They are good people, share information and don't require a purchase to be nice.
