I know I have... but I finally ordered them anyway. I got an e-mail the other day which said they were on the way and had a tracking number. When I tracked it I see that the package weighs 46lbs! I always thought lights were maybe 5lbs each so the package would be under 20lbs. Just for grins I got a ups quote for shipping a package from their zip code to mine. Know what? It was very close to the amount they quoted me. So keep in mind, a set of Depos, with CCFL AE's, and Lamin-x weighs 46 lbs packed to ship. And DDM Tuning gave me a fair price for shipping. | | | 03-18-2009, 10:07 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | wow, those are some heavy lights ~23 pounds each? maybe less if the weight of the packaging is included but still | | | 03-19-2009, 01:23 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: Oxford, Ohio Posts: 868 | I'll weigh the lights when they get here. Packaging should be a lot of the weight, but who knows? | | | 03-19-2009, 01:35 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Wisconsin Posts: 1,895 | I just typed in my zip and it said UPS ground was $48.18 I send some very heavy boxes UPS and that's about what it costs. But I can't imagine those lamps would be very heavy. Hopefully they are adding some insurance too. __________________ ... ʎɐqǝ uo pɹɐoqʎǝʞ ɐ ʎnq ı ǝɯıʇ ʇsɐן ǝɥʇ sı sıɥʇ | | | 03-19-2009, 01:49 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: norcal - 94590 Posts: 3,186 | They ship the lights in a box that is at least a 2 ft cube, filled with packing material, to prevent damage. That is an oversized box for UPS, and qualifies for extra charges. According to them, they had to pack that way, due to too many damage claims in transit. __________________ James 95 active w/leather interior and sport interior conversion, Vaders, full M-Tech exterior conversion. Surprising but I'll have to pay it. It's still cheaper than getting it anywhere else. __________________ | | | 03-19-2009, 03:44 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: norcal - 94590 Posts: 3,186 | http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum....php?t=1194077 This looks like the same product, is from a reputable dealer and is a few bucks cheaper... __________________ James 95 active w/leather interior and sport interior conversion, Vaders, full M-Tech exterior conversion. Anyway they were not ripping me off at all with the charges. I think some places work the shipping charges into the price of their product, though. | | | 03-20-2009, 09:54 PM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Austin Posts: 3,059 | Quote: Originally Posted by dave45056 The box weighs 24lbs, but they were charged for 46 lbs for the reson Wolferj said. So if you usually buy shampoo for $1.50 ea, and the next day, it says BOGO, the price of the first one should be really close to $3, or even higher. It's another marketing tactic that helps businesses sell that 1 extra item. __________________ Come get a ti-shirt Quote: From the e30 M3, evolved the e36.
