I can not get my swap going, it cranks but does not want to fire up. I have included a couple of pictures to show the wiring for the chassis (OBDII from a 1998 ti) to the M50 (ODBI from a 1994 325i) Do I have to splice wire #1 on to wire #8 on the X20 connector, or bypass it? I have included pics of what I am taking about. Also what other reasons would there be for no starting? I have followed Bluebimma's swap thread and mine is exactly the same other then I have cut the wires on the engine harness instead of the chassis harness, but I do not see how that would make a difference. I also have replaced the CPS and I know the fuel pump works, I also have 2 "413" red label ECU's and neither one seem to get it to work. | | | 12-18-2009, 08:29 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2009 Location: nj Posts: 1,099 | checking again the only wire u have to cut is pin #7 on x20 conector...usualy lime green..mine was purple...it should work after that ..otherwize ur grounds might be wrong..good luck .. | | | 12-18-2009, 08:35 PM | #3 | Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Mankato, MN Posts: 53 | It says to cut #8 and attach it to wire #1 on the X6031 connector, just dont get that, but Bluebimma uses the bottom of the connectors, the chassis side rather then the engine side, thats where I am confused. | | | 12-18-2009, 08:45 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2009 Location: nj Posts: 1,099 | i believe thats for the cluster.....on the x20 conector u have to cut the #7 wire thats for the ews system...wich will let ur car turn on....i dint do anything with the x6031 conector | | | 12-18-2009, 08:47 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2009 Location: nj Posts: 1,099 | u have to use the engine harnes ..not the chasis harnes..open up the x20 harnes n ull see the #s on the inside jst look for the #7 pin and cut the wire..thats what i had to do ..and she started rite up..beautiful thing,,,lol | | | 12-18-2009, 08:50 PM | #6 | Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Mankato, MN Posts: 53 | Hm...this is what has me confused. I am thinking that it may be a ground issue, not 100% though. Any other thoughts? | | | 01-14-2010, 02:56 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2009 Location: nj Posts: 1,099 | are you sure ur ground /power wires are corect...did u eliminate the fuel regulator under the car?.. | | | 01-17-2010, 09:26 PM | #10 | Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Mankato, MN Posts: 53 | I checked it again and I am getting power to the main relay and the fuel pump, still diagnosing, I have to get there soon, lol. | | | 01-17-2010, 09:51 PM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2009 Location: nj Posts: 1,099 | are u getting fuel to the motor..?. make sure ur fuel lines are correct...power and ground are correct... | | | 01-18-2010, 12:19 AM | #12 | Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Mankato, MN Posts: 53 | I pulled the fuel line off the front side of the fuel rail, jumpered the fuel pump relay and NOTHING was coming out, but the pump was running. U can use the same fuel filter jst run fuel hose to the fuel rail....if anything try spraying some gas in the throtle body and try starting it..tthats how I found out it was fuel issue not a spark problmm...are you geting spark?
