Hey guys, new here, I dont have a Ti, or a bmw, yet, but am looking into an e36 318is. I was doing a good amount of research on the e36 as I was looking at the 328is, but now am more interested in the 318is, and, no one has any info on the m4x/318 on other bmw forums, so I was hoping you Ti guys will let me play with a 318is. Is this a forum that will help with a 318is? Can you be nice even though I am is instead of ti? | | | 01-23-2013, 12:31 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2009 Location: Ft Defiance, AZ Posts: 686 | This was a response from yesterday when a new guy joined without stating his E46 was a ti Quote: Originally Posted by 3.2TI GTFOH and don't come back until you have a ti. | However, most of us on here are familiar with other BMWs and wouldn't mind helping you at all, especially with the M4x..... at least thats how I feel __________________ 1999 BMW 318ti 2005 MINI Cooper S | | | 01-23-2013, 12:52 AM | #3 | Junior Member Join Date: Jan 2013 Location: usa Posts: 10 | I just hate how I get hated on every bmw forum for asking about the 318/m4x and get NO help from other bmw forums. Great practical and detailed info on this forum. I have found great feedback here. M42Club.com also has good M42 and some M44 drivetrain info. __________________ 1998 318ti Sport - "Cali" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, Cali top 1998 318ti Sport - "Max" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, S52 1997 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior 1995 318ti Active - "Blanca" Alpineweib III/Schwartz leather interior Other Current Bimmers: 2006 530i / 2000 2.3L Z3 / 1997 1.9L Z3 / 1999 540it 1997 318ti Sport - "Huera" - RIP 1995 318ti Active - RIP 1995 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Sold 1994 325i Sedan - "Jade" - Sold 1991 318ic - "Bert" - Sold 1985 635csi sold 1984 533i "Max" Sold 1984 318i sold BMWCCA #160411 SUPPORT 318ti.org! These guys are more fun (this board and the car). You will grow to love the stubby butt and it's usefulness. Having trouble finding 96+ is coupes... | They were produced/imported up until 1999, but like all of the 318 series cars, they were much less popular than the 325/328's and fewer were sold. I have a '95 318i sedan- the drive train is the only part that is identical to the ti of the same year (M42, 5sp., small case diff.) the differences are the body, rear suspension (multi-link (sedan) vs. swingarm (ti)), and interior. Most of us can and are happy to answer drive train questions and, as teen ti said, many of us are familiar enough with other BMW's to be able to help you out, but the similarities mostly stop there. Good luck in your search and welcome!
