Exclamation Idle Problem!!! HELP!!!

Okay...it just happened today. On my way home from school, everything was fine. My RPMs at idle were at about 700-800. After a while, i stopped at a stoplight and my RPMs at idle went crazy. It kept going up and down between 200 and 1000.
I have a feeling it may be the Idle Control Valve, but I don't really know.
What do you guys think about it?
One more thing, do you think that an external force may have done it? (like how a radar jammer messes up an radar.)
Because i noticed that it happened right after a damn civic cut me off and i started following him.
Please help!
Thanks guys
-Randy

I have noticed this problem once, I was on a steep hill and had very low fuel. I don't have a clue if those could be any factor to it.

I have not noticed it since.

Where is the ICV exactly? Is it visible from the top (stock form), or is it on the throttle body under the intake manifold?
Thanks again guys

I have the same problem and I've replaced the ICV, O2 sensor, Throttle position sensor and it still have the same problem sometimes it even stalls out, in the mean time all i did was disconnect the throttle position sensor the problem went away but the check engine light stays on untill i can take it to the shop.

My ICV was located behind the intake manifold, i had to disconnect the throttle body to get to it, i didn't have to go under the car or anything but my TI is 95 so i dont know if that make a difference.

Hey guys,
When my car was on its way to the dealership, the little sprocket light thingy lit up.
I fixed my problem though. I brought it to the dealership and they said that it was just the transmission's shifting software (mine's an auto).
They just did a little reprogramming and then it was gone.
I've been driving it for the past week and it seems like there's no problem .
I'll post more if something happens.

Smile 98 ti idle probs

Hi guys seams to be the most common problem with this wee car!
have you checked the maf sensor? remove the wiring loom that goes into the rht of the maf and drive as normal, this will determine if the maf is at fault.
they generally go every 40000mls. Garages will tell you this will damage engine but thats nonsense.
mines was doing the same and garage were left scratchin there heads.
I replaced maf, plugs, cleaned icv, new air filter and boom, my wee Ti is back to her best and pullin like a train!!
I got the maf from ebay brand new with 12 mnth warranty for £39.99!!!!!!
others are charging in excess of £100. the correct part number for the m44b19 engine is 0280217110.
