Default Sad news another TI RIP.......

Hey guys, im feeling really low right now. Good new's is im alive and walked away without a scratch somehow.

Long story short, I was broadsided today 1 block away from my house. This older gentleman(aka "jackass") ran the stop sign going about 40-50 mph. I should have seen it coming, but you dont necessarily think someone will deliberately run a stop sign. He hit me so hard both of his airbags deployed and sent me spinning into 360.

He crashed into my whole rear passanger panel and snapped some suspension and possibly drivetrain. Im pretty sure the frame is done. I wasnt able to get a good look at it with all the smashed body shrouding the wheel well.

Sounds from the rear were loud and boomin and banging were occurring. It is quite possible she will not make it through the claim.

But I am alive to see my wife, kids, family.

Very glad you are unhurt! It is terribly sad that your car is damaged, but it would be even worse if you were injured... Cars can be replaced, but we cannot.

Just from the quick description, the car sounds totaled unfortunately. Hope for the best, but expect the worst. Good luck!

Wow - sorry to hear it.

I have seen people on the phone cruise right through stop signs without even knowing they did it.

I wonder if this guy was chatting.

I hope your insurance comes through nicely for you.

James, thank you for your regards! Yeah, I already knew as soon as I got out of the car that the worst would possibly be true. I'll keep you guys updated.

Glad to hear your alright. Dont feel so down- Yes the car was special to you but you can always find another and feel that same feeling again. It will be hard to find one just as good and might take some time to make just as good but its not hard at all we just make it hard.

Again, glad you are alright and not dead (literal I know) but thats the reality of it. A way to avoid situations like this is next time your in a similar situation before the accident is think of the variables and you will avoid him. Dont rely on luck. Just think and you will be alright.

First, glad you are OK and I thought the same thing.

I totaled my 98 ti in 2000. Felt terrible, especially since it was my fault.
I found myself a nice little 1996 328ti less than a month later.
I'll never feel like my 96 is really mine but it taught me that cars can be replaced.

Hang in there.

As said above, cars can be replaced, you can not. That said, this was clearly his fault, make sure you get a lawyer if you are not happy with what they are offering you for your car. I do not do tort law, but, it always helps in the settlement process to say you are/or say you have a lawyer.

You did not mention that you were hurt? After that wack, I sure hope you at least got yourself checked out?

+1 for that... Even if you do not hurt now, you will most likely hurt/ache over the next few days... Go easy, get rest, and take time to let yourself heal, mentally and physically.
