Question Steering Coupler?

hey everyone...

my steering wheel has started devoloping 'hard' spots (basically gets really hard to turn it past a certain point - combined with a loud cracking noise from the column itself)... I did some searching on bimmerforums & I think my steering coupler may have went south...
problem is I can not locaste the 'coupler' on these diagrams. can someone point out to the 'steering coupler' thing - so I could order it?

thx!

Oh.. ok. So the 'coupler' is the lower joint assembly, right?
I thought it would in the steering rack...

Why do you think I'm getting loud cracking noises - as the steering freezes - from what sounds like its coming from right behind the stering wheel, though??

Nice write up on both sites - I'll be using them if I change the joints.

The only other DIY that i can think of is the slip ring which is also located on bimmerforums.com
