One of the arms was bent. Tried to bend it back but I'm not sure if it helped. Got everything assembled and then noticed the roller bearing plastic was broken in a manner that there was still plastic around the rivet, and the "wheel" part of it was in the slider. I tried some jb weld on those two parts, hopefully I didn't get it on the actual bearing part of it. If that doesn't work, is there any real way to replace that bearing? Or is it a whole new regulator? I might check the pick-your-part tomorrow morning. I really want a california roof so I don't have to open the windows. __________________ '96 318ti California Edition- Montreal blue '68 1600-2-Caribe blue | | | 10-14-2012, 04:52 AM | #2707 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2011 Location: Michigan Posts: 183 | Just ordered a valve cover gasket, new brakes and spark plugs. Buttoned up the door panel and unplugged the switch. I'll wait till I'm not busy to get to it. __________________ '96 318ti California Edition- Montreal blue '68 1600-2-Caribe blue | | | 10-15-2012, 05:48 PM | #2709 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2012 Location: Portland, OR Posts: 159 | Put in the replacement water pump (bad bearing) and also replaced the hydraulic tensioner while I was at it. Everything is nice and quiet again up front. | | | 10-15-2012, 09:32 PM | #2710 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: norcal - 94590 Posts: 3,186 | Quote: Originally Posted by FunElan Started the window repair today. And a Cali roof, while great, comes with it's own set of potential issues, all more costly than window repairs.. __________________ James 95 active w/leather interior and sport interior conversion, Vaders, full M-Tech exterior conversion. No more problems for years. Cost: $160 bucks. The problem with buying a used one, unless you enjoy changing it (NOT) is you are buying someone elses problem and putting it in your car. If you spring for a new regulator, the problem will be solved for 10 years, instead of a few years or months (or days with my luck) until the used one is wore out.
