Default HUGE BANG GEARS NOT WORKING HELP!!

hi there, im new to these forums prob should of signed up ages ago but iv not, anyway i have an issue... recently iv noticed a very very slight ticking/knocking sound when deaccelerating i know i should of got it checked out but its an old car and you cant hardly even hear it might not even be related. anyway i was casualy driving home from getting some food and i heard a huge bang the whole car felt like it bounced in the air for a second, obviously i thought 2 of 1 things happend either i blown a tire or id hit something, i wasnt going very fast maybe 30-35 i slowed down turned off the engine rolled somewhere safe, looked around the car everything seemed fine bearing in mind it was pitch black i didnt even open the bonnet as it was so cold and dark, anyway stupid thing i know but after about 10 mins i got cold and turned the engine back on and the car ticked over perfectly i thought hey i might be able to drive this back home but i put it in gear and it didnt move, gearbox maybe? the guy who i waved down thought it was the clutch gone, but the clutch in the car is new about year and half doesnt slip and no weird smells coming from it. any clues my first thought was the camchain had broke?? any idea anyone? my names jay btw thanks

we recoverd the car, my mechanic said he's sure its the clutch, im not sure though i guess we will find out, i have got a habit of double clutching it 'when driving it fast rarely but when i do drive it fast i am very ruff with the engine' is it possible the clutch maybe had a crack init? it is like a said kinda of new year and half old do they ever just brake id prob of done about 20k max with this clutch, also if the clutch had cracked would it of damaged the internals? i mean it was a huge bang surely that force would have had to of gone somewhere, although like i said it ticked over fine. gear box seems fine doesnt crunch, just zero biting.

I didn't think that ti's had enough torque to blow a differential. Anyone else had this happen to them? I wonder if the diff had no fluid?
