California Roof HELP Hi I need help with my California 318ti as I am in process of buying it. Put down a deposit. The California ROOF opens and closes no problem exept that the motor moves every 6 inches and makes a clickin gnoise and then moves another six inches. IS this normal? Did the roof originally move without slightly hesitatiing every six inches? Sounds like a gear problem. | | | 01-04-2012, 01:42 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: SW Florida Posts: 4,275 | yep, there's a problem with something on your top. i'd look into repairing it. then enjoy your new car! also, welcome to the Org __________________ Sean 1995 Active | | | 01-04-2012, 03:16 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | one of the gears must have a few teeth sheared off on one side, that would explain the intermittent operation. you're going to need a new motor for it so I'd keep the top closed so you don't get it stuck open | | | 01-30-2012, 01:53 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: Globally Posts: 1,162 | Could it be the track mechanism needs some lubrication? IE on the sliders and in the gear box? I don't have a California roof so I am unfamiliar the system but seems to be just a large sliding fabric sunroof. If you have not purchased it yet I would use the fact that it's not operating properly as leverage to lower the cost. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
