HVAC fan stopped working all at once. Fan speed is left on high, on defrost for early morning warm up. It worked when shut off, then didn’t the next morning. We’ve searched for info, and most is about the “blower fan resistor”, but some talk of a “relay”. The car is a 1997 base car with NO “auto” feature. The resistor is under the cowl with the fan motor on this one, not inside the car as most posts have suggested. How do I test the resistor while I have it out? And the relay, is under the hood in the fuse box area? Any knowledgeable help in this area would be appreciated. | | | 04-07-2018, 06:51 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2012 Location: Dodging potholes in SoCal Posts: 454 | Correct - the resistor is behind one of the cabin filters in the cowl - probably a good time to change them since you're there. I assume the relay is in the fuse box - somewhere on the site is an entire electrical manual/wiring diagram that has the location of everything. It was possibly the connection at the resistor. I used dielectric grease on each pin and plugged it back in and it started working.Reassembled everything, including the pain in the butt electrical tray. As long as it’s working, I’m all good. Do I think that was the problem, not really sure .
