I like to keep my engine bay emaculate and I'm sick of looking at that cover with what looks like a clear coat chipping off. Does anyone know somewhere that might sell an engine cover for this car, possibly powder coated?? Or is this something i am going to have to get done myself?? | | | 03-08-2005, 11:29 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Tyler, TX Posts: 1,022 | It's something you'll have to get done yourself. Powdercoating it shouldn't cost more than $50 though, and a new valve cover can't be that expensive. | | | 03-08-2005, 11:52 PM | #3 | I miss my Ti....... :( Join Date: Nov 2003 Location: Los Angeles, CA Posts: 828 | Let me know ... If you are interested, and can go with out your car for a few days, hit me up and you can get in on it and share the cost with me. -Chad chad.cheung@gmail.com | | | 03-09-2005, 02:24 AM | #4 | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Springfield, OH Posts: 6 | Thanks for the input... I think i'll have to pass on the powder coating right now. I can't be without my car until summer. | | | 03-09-2005, 02:37 AM | #5 | Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Atlanta Posts: 44 | Quote: Originally Posted by Deepsky Or is this something i am going to have to get done myself?? | Lots of time and little money? Buy a used valve cover from a junk yard. You should be able to find someone with a scrap motor that will sell it cheap. Polish the aluminum by hand. Presure wash it and make sure it isn't warped. Then start with corse sand paper and work your way to 600 wet and 1000 wet. Use a drill or a porter-cable with compound to finish it off. I've done this several times. The results are great and the cost is very low. | | | 03-09-2005, 02:48 AM | #6 | I miss my Ti....... :( Join Date: Nov 2003 Location: Los Angeles, CA Posts: 828 | No Problem ... It is powder coated with a shiny black finish and then the rails are polished. -Chad | | | 03-10-2005, 12:46 AM | #10 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | you people are sick i tell you, sick! i WISH mine looked like that ... including the DASC of course way too many projects, way too little time | | | 03-10-2005, 05:37 AM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: Vancouver, B.C.
