Default Good Deal?

Hi all, I'm new here.

I came across a 1996 318ti. It is black and pretty sweet. It has 102,000 miles. The owner wants $5,000 for the car. They have all service records and just had new spark plugs/wires, and a clutch put in it.

It was wrecked once before. Apparently it was minor. In looking at the body, nothing appears too bad except for a few chips on the hood and front fenders, and a tiny speck of rust under the right headlight.

Oh, the owner is also including 2 sets of tires. One set for the winter months, and one set for spring/summer.

It drove great!

Thanks for your help in advance,
Digs

Sounds like a great deal. I would make sure the repair from the accident was done properly. Other than that the 102k miles is not alot. I have 120K on my '95 and it runs as strong and tight as when it was new. You might want to have a mechanic check out the car. Hope it works out for you.

Thanks Mickd. I'll be sure to take your advice and have a mechanic check it over!

Thanks,

try and find out which parts were damaged or replaced. if this person has all service records then s/he should also have the repair bill.

if he's honest about it and the damage isn't bad, don't lowball him too much. the car was obviously cared for and IMO people should be rewarded for their honesty, especially with used cars.

Guys and Gals, I bought it yesterday! Everything checked out and looked really good. I couldn't pass it up! I can't wait to shine it up!

The car was also lowered by the previous owner. It looks sweet!

Thanks for all the advice,

I'm going to shine it up this weekend! We just got 7 inches of snow, and now it's filthy. I'll see if I can snap a few photos and post them!

Wow Digs, you didn't waste any time getting your car! Much happy motoring with your ti. This is one of the few cars I've owned that has gotten better as time went on, and has been so reliable, couldn't ask for more. After owning mine for 9 years it's like I am one with the car and know exactly what it will do handling wise.
