Upon attempting to change the thermostat the lower right bolt sheared off flush with the engine block forcing me to either part out or sell this car as I do not have the tools or means to remove this bolt. Car is in ok shape with three to four body dents along with normal wear and tear. This ti has approx 120k miles and other than the mentioned broken bolt runs and drives fine. I live in Hendersonville/Asheville North Carolina. Feel free to email me at lokmor6944@gmail.com or call (8228) 697-8410 in interested. | | | 07-16-2010, 12:27 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | you can't find a shop to get it out? seems like it's a shame to part the car out over something so minor | | | 07-16-2010, 12:36 AM | #3 | Junior Member Join Date: Jul 2010 Location: north carolina Posts: 5 | The shops around my area are notorious for shoddy quality and high labor costs. I have had this car for four years and have recently replaced it with a newer model vehicle. At this point I am willing to either part out or sell the car outright to remove it from my yard. As I am selling it cheap maybe someone else more mechanical than I can profit and fix the relatively minor mechanical problem. | | | 07-16-2010, 01:16 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2009 Location: nj Posts: 1,099 | whats the price for the whole car?? pics? __________________ 318ti MZK2 | | | 07-16-2010, 02:47 AM | #5 | Junior Member Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: ATL, GA Posts: 12 | Go to home depot, they sell this drill bit type thing that you can use to take out broken bolts, very simple to use and it only cost about $5 the most. If it is flush with the block you'll need to drill into the bolt a little bit so that the easy out has something to grip. Edit - Or just get a "left hand drill bit" and skip the pre drill part. __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 07-16-2010, 04:44 AM | #7 | Junior Member Join Date: Jul 2010 Location: north carolina Posts: 5 | I have already tried this and the head of the actual easy out snapped off inside the bolt. As I believe the bit is carbide I cannot drill through it with my tools at hand. Thank you for the helpful suggestion, my ineptitude has however defeated me in this endeavor. | | | 07-16-2010, 04:46 AM | #8 | Junior Member Join Date: Jul 2010 Location: north carolina Posts: 5 | I will try to upload some pics within the next few days, but I would sell the entire car for $500. I could probably arrange for a tow somewhere local for pickup, but would have to factor the cost of the tow into the price of the car. | | | 07-17-2010, 04:32 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2009 Location: mbsc Posts: 570 | emailed you my cell #. i need this car to replace my 318i drift car that took out a wall last weekend. will come pick up ASAP.. call me.
