Default 98 318ti 5spd

The car is a 98 318ti 5spd with M sport package, Avus blue exterior, grey cloth interior w/ leather trim, Goodyear Eagle F1 tires, K&N air filter, 110K miles, runs and looks great. Mileage is over 30 on the highways (I've been getting about 33mpg) and about 25 around town. The price is $9,000. I am located near San Francisco. If you would like to set up a test drive or get more info and or pictures I would be happy to oblige. maddogward@gmail.com

I think your price is too high for this car with 110k on it. According to Kelly blue book it's private party selling price is $6,300 in the san fran area. If the car had more like 60-70k you could get 9,that is only ifthe car is in mint condition.

Default price

I just sold my 98 sport for $7350 with 124k. KBB is just a guideline to follow, but is not a bible. All depends on how a car is maintained and cared for. Also, KBB does not consider all aspects of a car, probably uses a formula to cover all car, trucks, and bikes. For example, for the sport package they add a $300 value. Let me see someone with a base model ti try to get all sport package options for $300. This is just for the front bumper: http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthread.php?t=5543

I do admit it would be hard to get $9k.

I agree, You couldn't buy a e30 m3 in good shape for less than $10,000 yet KBB value on it is $3000 or something like that!

KBB is a book made for car dealers to screw people with when trading in a used vehicle. Thats how I feel about KBB.

I agree, **** Kelly and her freakin blue book. However, in related news I am dropping the price to $8500. Now no more price bitching, that's more than fair for this car. Also if you want to check out pictures they are posted on craigslist for the san francisco area. Any problems finding that feel free to email me directly.

Default The Global Economy

I agree KBB is getting too close to black book. NADA is more fair in pricing retail values.

Plus it's also part Econ 101. The price of most real goods in California is normally higher than the price in Georgia (where I live). The internet has done wonders for commerce and trade, and is helping to rebalance that equation but salaries and Cost of Living is still much higher in Cali than in other areas. Therefore, a nice TI in San Francisco is worth more (if staying in California) than the same TI selling in Georgia for the same reason that a 2000 square foot home in Georgia may sell for $300k that would sell for $500k in the suburbs of San Francisco. It's when we start trying to sell across regions that we start getting into more disparate pricing differences. I may actually buy my next 2002ti direct from Europe because it's cheaper to import a nicely restored one than it is to pay $20k for one restored here. Gotta love the global economy!
