Default new m coupe finned diff cover bushing is very noisy!

got the e30 diff installed with the finned diff cover (i have one bad halfshaft, but that's another story) and discovered that the bushing on the diff cover is making a lot of noise (when you press down on the rear of the car). anyone else experienced this? is it a bad bushing? my usual shop has never heard of one of these doing this. we tightened the bolt down as tight as we possibly could and he said that was normally enough. do i have a bad bushing (and therefore need to replace the cover) or what?

TIA
