Default Looking for a nice e36 in San Jose, CA....

My cousin is looking to buy his first car and is expecting a beater. His dad wants to help him out and is very interested in a nice BMW e36. He's not to particular about the configuration as long as it is well-maintained and in good condition. Can anyone point us towards one? I'm not sure what his price range is, but I'm guessing between $3K and $5K. If you know of one, please send me a PM with the details.

Have a Merry Xmas!

I forgot to mention - a clean 318ti would be a bonus!

Had a talk with my uncle and cousin yesterday and got a better feel for their buying plans. The price range they are looking at is about $4k to $4.5K and they plan to have the funds available about the end of the month. They are also restricting the search to the Bay Area (SF to King City). A 'ti with a manual transmission is preferrable, but other e36s would probably do also.

I took my cousin out yesterday in Trixie and started teaching him how to drive a stick. He did a pretty good job, but needs more seat time in a car of his own to get it down perfect. He's a really good kid, so I hope we can find something that's reliable and in good shape for him. He seems like the type that will take care of a car, so I've been going over the importance of proper maintenance with him. BMWs are great cars, but you do need to maintain them properly. Of course, that's true of any brand of car.

Hey eurohb and urbanmisfit, thanks for the tip about the cars. I mentioned them to my uncle, but he really doesn't want to travel out of the Bay Area unless its necessary. I still appreciate the notice. If I had the cash on hand I'd probably head down there to look at urbanmisfit's ti for my wife. She wants a BMW with an automatic transmission for herself, but we have to wait for our tax refund.

Have a Merry Xmas everyone!
