Been thinking about making up my own adapter that would mount an Eaton supercharger straight onto the factory low inlet manifold.
The twin-round flange directly to the square flange of the S/C. This to me seems like the easiest way to do things, but after lots of searching I've never seen anyone do it like this...
So here's a photo of the factory lower inlet manifold...
I hope you get what I'm trying to say. Anyone thought about doing it this way? Are there some points that I'm not thinking of that make my way of doing it not good? Any feedback would be great.

very cool! I like the idea and the flow should remain even across the cylinders. perhaps when your done with fitment we can work on a tune for this setup on the factory computer
Hi guys, searching through my local eBay for a suitable charger, but as I live in Japan it's not that easy. Found some old Jaguars but being a "luxury" brand here the parts are silly money. Might have to import from US before I can get this project started.
Anyone have a recommendation for what stock motor superchargers would be the right size? I'm guessing the new Mini would be too small, same as the JDM cars with chargers like the older model Levins etc. Any Benz to look for?
have thought about this as well, and have an eaton m62 supercharger from a gm 3800. think it's a genII, but not certain on it.
the m90 eaton is a little larger, has a longer snout, and may fit a little easier to route a belt to drive it.
regardless, the m90 was also utilizedon the ford 3.8 in their supercharged t-birds and cougars. it's more 'boxy' than the gm versions, but doesn't have a bypass valve in it, iirc.
either way, all of these units will not fit under the hood in the location that you indicated. a custom lower manifold will need to be made.
i am in the design stages right now, and plan on running a meth injection system as well.
If anyone is interested...here is one of our 318is with our own fitting kit. Running around 230hp at the moment at 0.8 bar of boost. Stock engine/HG etc. and has been running like this with heaps of track use for around 2 years.
Found this kit for 240SXs, looks like they have a 1/2" adapter plate that bolts between the manifold and supercharger. That would probably be best so it keeps the height down. However, on the 240 the manifold goes down so the supercharger ends up sitting next to the block.
The Xterra uses a M62 supercharger. Mini S uses an M45. Mercedes C230 Kompressor also uses an M62. Cobalt SS uses a M62.
Problem is that that superchargers uses by manufacturers are roughly the same but there are differences in the mounting locations and inlet/outlet ports. Most all of the manufacturers design their own housings for the superchargers so you'd have to design the adapter to work with a specific one.

the superchargers from the 3800 are probably more readily available/cheaper to use, i think.
a dasc is between 3-5k, depending upon condition and whatnot, and while fit and finish is superb, my end goal is to do a fi build as cheaply as possible.
my time is 'free for me', so it will mostly be a materials build. i have access to welding and materials as needed, so that is covered. the most $ i figure will be spent on the tune itself. that's just how it goes, i guess.
since space is rather tight in the ti, (even more so with an m5x), this will wind up being an m4x build. i had planned on doing the sean i have but it just will not fit....
it will be necessary to cut the housing of the supercharger, and i will need to fabricate therest of the inlet, so i do not forsee this (really) becoming a marketable 'kit'.
the ford m90 from the 3.8 supercharged t-birds may also be a viable candidate and require less modifications to the housing. i do not know for certain as i have not come across one in my travels.
i will commence with the housing mods soon, and mock up adapter plates to be welded. i also will need to modify the original lower intake (going to try that first). hopefully that will work out better than fabbing one up from scratch. cheaper, too.
so, yeah. lots of ideas, and suggestions/replies/input are always welcome.

Re the "drift" IS (It's actually a grip car, but I ditched the S tires and put street radials on it without changing any other setup) Yeah I'll snap a pic tomorrow!
Yes yes yes. THAT noise is the only reason I want to build another supercharged car. The 318is that we have at the moment is a Rotrex style and makes NO S/C noise
