Default Wisconsin ti Owners

I noticed there are a few of you out there from WI; cali-ti, m44ic, DustenT, tborr2, others? Just was wondering about a get together for the SVRA races (May 13-15) or June Sprints (June 23-26) at Road America? I know you can get on the track at the SVRA for "parade" laps, it cost 40 bucks last time I did it, the marshalls are pretty liberal, let you drive pretty fast (100 mph+) as long as it doesn't get out of hand. How cool would that be, a string of ti's on the awesome 4 miles of RA? Either that or a get together at Great Lakes Dragaway? Cali-ti, you're from Union Grove, ever see any ti's at the strip? Let me know what you think. Thanks. Mike

Yeah, OK. My greatest love is auto racing, and you guys don't have a road course like Road America, the best (and longest - 4 miles) in the USA. It has been compared to Spa Francorchamps, one of the best in the world.

it sounds cool. my schedule is kinda hectic (gf lives in philly, we're trying to prepare for moving to denver in the end of june/july timeframe [including me looking for a job :S ]) and i have a ton of work to do on my car. let me know with as much notice as possible where you're looking at meeting and i'll do my best to join.

i must say, RA is really cool. went up with a friend of a friend who owns a pre-WWII MG J2. nothing like being out on the track with glorified bike tires with panteras flying by at 120mph (they make a nice roar at that speed, btw)

i've lived here in union grove (aka smallsville or mayberry) for ~8 years and i have NEVER been to the drag strip

I'm in, just let me know the dates and times. I'm in Madison a lot in the summer months, so it shouldn't be too far to drive.

sounds good. maybe i can get a look at/ride in dusten's DASC

would contemplate that or possibly a 3.2L M3 engine swap. we'll see if i have a lotus elise by then and just go more into maintenance/tinkering mode on the ti

i should add, i'd rather do RA than the dragstrip. going straight is not my thing

OK, it looks like the consensus is RA, and since you are moving in June/July, let's pick the race before you leave. The big vintage event is July 14-17, I think that's the only other weekend other than the SVRA event we could get out on the track. Are you serious, maybe getting a Lotus Elise? I could only dream of that. I never even knew of the J2 MG's, from 1933? Oldest MG's I have seen are the T series. Got to drive a neighbors '59 MGA years ago. It would be great seeing your DASC ti Dusten, I know I have been talking about doing the DASC but have had so much going on lately. And M44ic, I should have titled this a BMW 4 banger get together.

hey who cares if your car is stock then you can see the improvements mods have done in the future, and no non of my friends have bimmers not to big of a bimmer craze in madison but my best bud has a nissan maxima that we swapped in a 5spd over winter and he just bought a vortech blower for it, and believe it or not that big @ss sedan hauls @ss without the blower, and my other friend who is coming has a 93 integra with a B16A1 swap so that should be a good race for me, oh and another friend with maxima is coming too.

I'll see if some friends from work would want to go, one just bought an S2000 and another's got an S10 pickup with a small block, he's the 1/4 mile guy. Maybe he would run it. Still waiting to get my ti wheels back from the powdercoat shop, still running on snows. Hope they are done by then. If not, maybe another weekend?

thanks for the consideration mickd! so i'll do my best to attend the SVRA races (May 13-15). ****, that's pretty soon! have to get working on my car! the list just keeps getting longer.

wheels back from the powdercoater? hmmmm, interesting. what color? are you going to put a tire pressure monitoring system in when you have new rubber put on? forget where i read about a nice one, perhaps EC, i'll check. i don't check 'em as often as i should so it'd be good to have. i had to swap my snows when i took a nail/screw in my driver's side rear. they were 3 years old and i was going to get rid of them anyway, but still annoying being forced to change 'em!

EDIT: ok, found it in the feb ED: www.intellivalve.com. monitors air pressure and temp in all four wheels and displays/warns on a display inside your car. will have to check later for cost, but with savings from properly inflated tires, it could pay for itself in a reasonable time.

EDIT AGAIN: $250 (plus shipping i'm guessing). batteries in the sensors rated for 4 years (wonder what type they use and how much to replace?).

as for the elise, hoping my gf/future wife might get me one for my birthday next year (after we move to denver and she starts practicing medicine in the real world - she's a retinal surgeon ). she's an awesome woman, and just might do it (i can dream any way)
