Default M44 swapped and won't start please help!

Hello,

I swapped an M44 out of a 98' 318ti and put it in my 96 z3. The car lights up, cranks but does not fire. Actually fired once after lots of cranking but that was it. Any idea if I should use the computer from the 318ti or use the one from my z3? My Z3 actually had an older engine so I had to swap intake manifold and header off the 318ti engine since my car had a different wiring harness ever so slightly.

Any ideas? I read on some of the threads the mapping of the engine is different and so it won't start.

Thanks for any help,
Michael

NOTE: I went out this morning and after charging the battery for 10 minutes so it cranked a little harder- Presto the car fired up. Problem is it won't stay started. It dies after just about 3-4 seconds.

Anyone doing an engine swap with a 96 to 98 engine. Swap header intake manifold and use all the same parts and your car will theoretically run as long as I can figure out my fuel delivery problem. Still wondering if my intake and return lines are mixed up.

If delivery and return lines were mixed up it wouldn't fire.

Look at:
Fuel filter,
Pump (+relay),
Injectors

In that order.

if your tried to fire up your car and your gas lines were reversed, you may have just ruined your injectors...

I paid special attention in making sure I hooked mine up properly after my swap.

And if you swapped DME's.. you would need the EWS out of the M44 as well.
