Default 97 318ti Parts may be going up for sale

My loss, your gain?
http://www.typer.us/bmw/index.html

1997 318ti all stock located in South Jersey.. A tree fell on it last night and I had liability only on it. The homeowner's insurance may not cover it..

I may be parting it out if it doesn't cover it.
Please reply to this thread or Email me if you are interested in parts and I will contact you with details when things settle.

The wheels are steel wheelies. The tires still have more than half the tread on them.

Air bags did not deploy. So they are up for grabs too.

Default Parts

Sorry. The car is an automatic.
I'm not sure of the condition fo the car yet as it is still under the tree.
I see oil leaking underneath.
The rest of the car is great. The tree missed the rear bumper by 1/2 cm. No damage to the back.

As far as I can see, the damage is to the windshield, and hood.
Not sure what else is bent. I did not try and start the car because I don't want to risk a fire in case there are any leaks.

that was TIGHT!

Man, how did the tree fall down? HEAVY HEAVY winds?? When i first glanced at the pic, i thought the tree didnt hit the car and your car was right in the middle but then i was wrong. Did you hear it fall and went outside and look? Or were you outside and saw it happen or you woke up to see it? How was your reaction like??

Anyway, if your car had an OBC, i would like the temperature sensor connector. Not the actualy sensor itself, but the part to plug into with a couple of inches left of wiring.

It doesn't need park distance control, and hates decadence. It is musclepacked, yet lightly wound. It lets you feel the asphalt and get you going with the smallest touch of the pedal. It provokes, seduces, and demands to be driven hard. It looks, sounds, and smells like performance.

If you do aprt it out, I am interested in:

Driver side mirror. If it is heated.

The rear 4" speakers.

Maybe the stock radio.

Everything will get parted out if I can't get insurance to cover it. Either that or the whole car can be sold at the right price. I don't have the money to fix it myself right now, so buy the windshield, oil pan, etc.. would cost too much money. I figure that I can sell all the parts individually for more money.

It has only has 84,000 miles on it and the last owner took care of this one. She had brought it to the dealer for all the maintenance work. She spent crazy $$ on the dealer for the routine maintenance. Ouch. Glad I can do things myself.
The only thing I needed to do is change the oil. I've only put about 4,000 miles on it since I got I last year in June.

Yes.. the front tweeters and mids, and rear speakers would be available.

sparkchaser Yes.. the mirrors are heated (that's what the owner's manual said anyway. They have that light bluish tint to it.). I don't remember having trouble with ice on the mirrors like my Acura.

Keep, the inquiries coming.. From the looks of it so far, it doesn't look like anyone will cover my loss. My friend's homeowner's insurance company is closed for the holidays. So I probably won't know until this Wednesday.

I remember when a tree fell on my Uncle's work van.. he got NOTHING for it. Because the van was on the property and parked in the back, his auto insurance wouldn't cover it.. passing it off on the home owner's... home owner's wouldn't cover it because it was "an act of god"

like you, he only had liability on his van

I'm familiar with most of the car parts I've worked on, but an OBC isn't one of them.

If you can describe an OBC, I might be able to tell you if it has one.
At first I was thinking that I could just go downstairs and check under the hood.

You would know if you had an OBC. Very visible.

I need a gas door lock. The whole shabang. Maybe the rear hatch. Where are you located?
