I think Harbor Freight sells a plastic welding kit for like 20 bucks, but for something like that and since it's just a track rat, I'd cut a square out of a piece of sheet metal or aluminum, drill some holes and rivet it. Or simply RTV it. I really like this stuff by Dow called BetaSeal or 3M WindoWeld. It's made for gluing and sealing windshields in place. If you glued a piece of aluminum to the plastic intake lid, it'll never come off. The problem with rivets, if one ever fails, it's getting sucked right into the engine.

I'm probably going to use JB Weld, it's probably not going to have much strain on it anyway. the mesh grill on the MAF would keep stuff from getting sucked into the engine too

I considered it but I didn't feel like modifying an air box, plus I like having all the extra room in the engine bay to work

my days of plastering cars with stickers are over you still have your eg hatch?

here's the patch, seems like it pulled away while the JB Weld was still wet so I'll have to fix that, might sand down those sharp corners too, I can see me stabbing myself trying to change the air filter

hahaha what has the world come to!!

it looks like you took off your body kit and went with a m tech front bumper? looks great!

no more eg hatch, i got rid of that once winter hit 2 years ago, i have had quite a few cars since then but currently i have a 1996 supercharged tacoma, a 2000 528i, and my project is a 1983 vw rabbit GTI that im doing a 16 valve swap on.

the body kit is long gone (not really since it's sitting in my shed because no one wants to buy it ) click the links in my sig and there's some more pics and a list of all my mods

I do remember you tended to go through cars pretty quickly, here I am still driving the same car after 5 years

thanks, I love it too, it's going back to the body shop next month so I can swap the rear bumpers so my Cordoba ti will finally have the full M-tech kit on it

Holy crap! LOL I'm over twice your age and the 318ti is my THIRD car. I had the previous car (Honda Civic Si) for 17 years. LOL

Hmmm... I wonder how long tiFreak will keep his first 318ti? ... or his second?

I'm not planning on selling it so unless it gets wrecked or I get addicted to crack it's going to the grave with me

my first race was today, I got off to a horrible start. apparently with all the times I pulled the air box off I forgot to tighten the clamp for the MAF and the hose came off so my first two runs I had no power and it bucked really badly every time I tried to get on it. I tightened that and then while I was idling in line waiting for my run my temp gauge went up to 3/4. I put the hood up and one of the other guys gave the wire for the fan a little jiggle and it started working and kept my temps in check for the rest of the day. then the posts for the rear interior panel came unglued and I finished a run with it flopping around and bouncing off the sheet metal. theeen on my way home the passenger fender liner popped partway off and got dragged for a little bit, just long enough to shred the front half into ribbons. it wasn't the smoothest time I've had at an autocross

the good news is that when the car was working right it was great. me and my boss never got around to repairing the sway bar mount but even with it broken the car handled great. I've got a video of my best run uploading to youtube right now
