Question Any problem in using 100% strength BMW coolant

Aside for the hit on my wallet, is there any adverse effects of using BMW coolant full strength?

My son took on removing/checking his WP and hoses, but in refilling, he refilled with full strength BMW coolant. I know it's normally a 50/50 mix coolant and distilled water. While we will recover some of the coolant and mix in distilled water, I was wondering on any ill effects if left in full strength.

Thanks!

Thanks very much! I'll share this with my son as I love that he's taken a stronger interest in working on maintaining his own car now.

You would think if 50% is good, 100% is better.

I'm sure your not at 100% as there would still be diluted coolant in the bottom of the block, heater core + its lines.

This is a simple device you can buy, I call it a 'turkey baster with balls'. Last forever and can be found at most parts stores. It checks freezing points (which isn't a large issue in Sacramento but is for our Ti friends up north).

I try to run 60 anti /40 distilled water then 50/50 the following service, since the only way to get out 'all' the coolant would be to remove the block and hang it upside down or the whole car (if you do that post a pic!).

I think only people in alaska need to be 100% accurate with mixture due to extended periods of extreme cold.

Yes, I think our systems hold just under 8q of coolant and he refilled with 6 of full strength. The previous mix was 50/50 so, simple view he's likely at 85-90% strength or so.

Yes, for Sac it apt to get hotter than cooler. Cold here is 20 degrees, so not too bad. Warm will peak at 110-112 degrees in the summer w/AC load.

Thanks again for your feedback!

OK, my son pulled 1.5 L of full coolant out and put in 3L or so of distilled water during the fill/bleed process. He had not yet bled the system prior to this morning.

He know to check coolant levels over the next few days.

It will be nice to have a 2nd person in the house who can do the maintenance across our 5 Bimmers. (I'll still do the Dodge...)
