Ever since I recharged my K&N filter, I've noticed my rpm's has decreased. It used to shift from second gear to the 3rd at 2.7k. But now it's shifting at 2.1k. My idle is also 100rpms lower than normal. I really haven't noticed any power loss. I drive really slow now, but my mpg is more worse than when I used to have a heavy foot. The response time is still the same. Is this stuff normal? Tomorrow i'm going to stop by advanced autoparts and see if they have a MAF cleaner. __________________ Come get a ti-shirt Quote: From the e30 M3, evolved the e36. I always recharge my K&N filter when i do an oil change and i have never had a problem. Did you wash it good, oil it, and then let it dry? | | | 10-01-2008, 03:27 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Austin Posts: 3,059 | Yea, I soaked the filter with the cleaner. Then I washed it thoroughly. I let it dry for 18 hours and used the oil on it. I did this when I right after I changed my oil and filter. __________________ Come get a ti-shirt Quote: From the e30 M3, evolved the e36. The MAF sensor has a screw that requires T20 star driver, with a tiny hole in the middle. Where can I get the tool for that? Advanced Auto parts doesn't have one. Btw, I just picked up the maf cleaner today. __________________ Come get a ti-shirt Quote: From the e30 M3, evolved the e36. I'd do the process over again and becareful on the amount of oil your putting on, try to do it all evenly aqnd do a thin coat. __________________ 98 Avus Blue 318 ti Active clear outs all around, stealth turning signals, blue led interior lights, 35% tinted windows,K&N air filter, 12" Kenwood Sub, MTX Thunder Amp,Alpine cd changer, Leatherz Armrest,ACS Pedals/Handbrake/FloorMats & Vitesse Tuning Carbon Fiber B-Pillars/CF Spark Plug Cover, New 16" MSW Typer 14 Rims on Goodyear Triple Treds www.myspace.com/avusblueti | | | 10-01-2008, 04:47 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Austin Posts: 3,059 | Quote: Originally Posted by Tyler My guess is you used too much oil and when it dried inside the filter it clogged it up. Could I use a compressor and air some of the oil out? I'll ask my mechanic. __________________ Come get a ti-shirt Quote: From the e30 M3, evolved the e36. Frankly, I'll take a dremel to it if it's large enough. __________________ I scream, you scream, we all scream for ZOMBIES. | | | 10-01-2008, 09:04 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Austin Posts: 3,059 | Thanks aceyx. Cleaned out the maf today. It's a lot more responsive, and shifting even smoother than before. Still having abnormal rpm's though. I haven't driven it long enough to see how it has effected my mpg. __________________ Come get a ti-shirt Quote: From the e30 M3, evolved the e36. I cleaned number 1 on the second picture. __________________ Come get a ti-shirt Quote: From the e30 M3, evolved the e36. I didn't bother taking off the housing. __________________ Come get a ti-shirt Quote: From the e30 M3, evolved the e36.
