Smile Alternator. Buy or send it to be rebuilt.

My alternator craped out on me and I took it to some guys about 10 miles south from me that say the rebuild and repair alternator. Man told me that the brushes were worn and showed me as well that the bearings are not smooth and need to be serviced. Is it worth it for $50? I think so.... please inform me of anything I am unaware of.

Thank you, The DJ

A ghetto one because I went the the ghetto lol. If I put back the alternator and it doesn't work they will rebuild again for free.

Pretty much any alternator you buy, unless it comes directly from the BMW factory is going to be a rebuilt/refurbished model. I get my alternators from a guy here locally in Northridge, CA. He has an actual storefront as well as an ebay store. The company is called Eagle Auto Electric. So far I've bought 3 alternators from him for 3 different cars, all of them worked like new, were professionally refurbished with new brushes, bearings and voltage regulators. They even clean and repaint them. They run about a hundred bucks, I paid $125 for my last one because it was a Bosch 140amp vs. the standard Valeo 80amp. Anyway, if your guy is willing to rebuild yours for 50 bucks, that's a good price. If you try to buy a rebuilt one, most places will charge a core fee which you'll get back when you give them your old alternator.

Oh Yes cooljess your the ****, you always reply to all the post people put up. And as for that guy who sells alternators do you have a direct link? I get my alternator back tomorrow but the guy never said anything about a voltage regulator, He said he will service the bearings and replace the brushes. He said the alternator was holding a charge or creating a charge, I can't remember
