Yo Everyone! Im very happy I found this site! I am soon to be a proud owner of a 318ti 1998 Model =D.


I plan to be a ongoing member onto this forum, but please excuse any ignorance of mine, I am not a car expert but a mere 15 year old with plenty of IT experience!


I guess thats all I can say for a introductory! So! Come on and introduce yourself as well I hope we can be great friends!

Also, look for my other post that I shall be making once I find the right place to put it =P.

Now! Any tips to know what to look for? This is my first time buying a car as well as a 3 series! Anything to look for and to do would be fantastic in my case!!

Well, it would depend on the severity of the problem. From what I seen thru carfax and such it presents itself in a very good manner. (No accidents/collision). So I will have to assume any problem at the dealership will be of normal wear and tear. That is why I been doing research on this car and asking here what I should look for. Anything I should really look for which may lead to expensive repair in the long run?

Look for window regulators (Easy to fix, but a hassle and annoying as hell), water pump, alternator, headliner, brakes, tires, battery, etc.

For the window regulators, move the windows up and down. Water pump, ask if they had replaced it already if it's more than 90k miles, same with alternator. Check the brakes, see if they will need replacement soon. Tires should not be near the wear bars, battery should have the green floating bead or still be under warranty, and head liner should not be sagging. You can do a search for these things in this forum.
