300 318ti clubsports in '95. ALL '96-'98 318ti sport models had the Mtechnik package and if I'm not mistaken ALL '99 318ti's came with the sport package as well. Not sure of the exact numbers from '96-'99, but it's not a rare car by any means.

Cool, congrats on the purchase. You're probably not going to see another one in Wisconsin, but trust me there's plenty of them around. Just so you know, the only thing "M" about the 318ti sport is the bumpers and side moldings. The engine compartment houses the same 1.8L or 1.9L 4cyl that 318i, 318is and Z3's came with. Most of us on here just refer to them as 318ti sports. If you go around telling people that you have an M, they'll assume you have an M3 until you pop the hood and then they'll laugh at you.

As for the noise you're hearing when cold, the secondary air pump runs for the first 30 seconds or so on cold startup. If it's abnormally loud, your pump may be leaking. You can feel it if you stick your hand around it when it's running. It's a black plastic pancake looking thing just behind the airbox or in your case behind the air filter. The leak can be fixed by replacing the 6 aluminum rivets that hold the pump together with bolts and nuts.

BTW, Welcome to the forum. Post some pics of your new ride!
