Only the last one was fouled and causing a miss. owner before me told me in needed a new valve cover gasket and that was the cause for the oil on the plugs. Does this sound correct? I already ordered the new gasket and I'm sure it needs it regardless. Is there anything else I should check especially while I have the valve cover off. | | | 04-14-2016, 04:44 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: Los Angeles, CA Posts: 1,464 | Most certainly the valve cover gasket. There are four individual rubber seals that fit on top of the spark plug recesses that, much like the perimeter gasket, will fail over time. See this thread for more details. __________________ 1995 318ti Base - Cosmosschwarz/Sandgrau R.I.P. 1997 318ti Active - Alpinweiß III/Sandgrau 2013 328i Coupe - Le Mans Blau | | | 04-14-2016, 03:33 PM | #3 | Junior Member Join Date: Apr 2016 Location: south jersey Posts: 5 | Thanks zoner | | | 07-30-2016, 06:01 AM | #4 | Junior Member Join Date: Apr 2015 Location: Kansas City Posts: 8 | Valve Cover Gasket Had to do this twice. First with RTV silicone, no go. The second time I used Hylomar Blue on all the mating surfaces. This stuff is amazing! Look it up. It will seal your VC and there will be NO LEAKS anywhere. It's easily available on line, it's called "Hylomar® Universal Blue". | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
