Wouldn't that depend on the housing market?

Ok... Not funny..

Default Another 1 Series Sighting

Just returned from the LA Chapter's Tour of the Vehicle Delivery Center (VDC) in Oxnard. On display, but locked, were a 128 Cabrio and an 128 Coupe. Nice little cars, a little short in rear seat room, but a clean design and the West Coast marketing dude went over the standard and optional features of the 128 and the 135. The Sport package for the 135 includes an Oil cooler, no LSD but that is coming in the BMW Performance catalog.

I've got a bunch of pictures from the VDC tour, will post some when I've had a chance to review them and select some.

Also on the premises was the E92 M3, but that was locked away waiting for uncovering at the LA Auto Show next weekend.

There was a couple of Alpina B7's on site and the RR DropHead (Convertible) which was being demonstrated. Huge vehicle, nearly 7000 lbs and 21" wheels and a 4 seat vehicle. There was also a bodiless chassis to view, just the aluminum frame and suspension. I can now see why it is so heavy, the space frame is massive. Just the seat mount are impressively large and heavy, even if in alum.

Pic coming later

There is already babybmw.net, which was born in 2003 and is fairly rooted with 2620 members, and 1addicts.com, which started out as a 2 series forum in late '05 and has 2239 members.

Babybmw.net is mostly UK based, and caters mostly to the 3 and 5 door hatch versions. 1Addicts has more US/Canadian members and is more coupe specific.

In addition to those 1 series centric sites, you also have 1 series subforums on Bimmerfest, Bimmerforums, Roadfly, etc., that have many thousands of members, and a fair amount of current traffic.

I suppose variety is a spice of life, though... Once the 1er coupe/cabrio hit our shores, there's going to be an ever growing membership base.

This is true and each one has it's own flavor. I really wish I did not give up 1series.org a couple years ago. It was phpBB based back then and there was so little interest. It was mostly people saying the 1 would never come. But then it was the 2.
