I recently purchased a 19" Sony flat panel monitor at home. The 700:1 contrast ratio was superior to almost any other model. Just noticing while I'm at work, my pictures that I uploaded look so much darker than they did at home. As far as contrast ratio goes for flat panels, it definitely isn't hype. Comparing a CRT to a Flat Panel is night and day. __________________ 1998 (July) 318ti, 5-spd OEM Armrest Blaupunkt Heidelberg CD50 CD Player/Compact Drive MP3 Player Diamond Audio 5.25" rear speakers Navman ICN 530 GPS BMWALARM.COM (with comfort settings) after market alarm system Magnecor 8.5mm wires M-Z3 Shifter/Momo Knob Burlwood Dashboard Stromung Exhaust X-brace Racing Dynamics Front Strut Bar Carbonio C.A.I. 17" Rial Rims Vader Seats/Heated/Lumbar Support M-tech Steering Wheel/Front Sway Bar/Front & Rear Bumper Depos/w 6500K Angel Eyes/6000K HIDs Clear Corners M3 Mirrors UUC Light Weight Flywheel/M5 Clutch/M3 Clutch Slave E28 3.46 LSD/Mcoupe Cover/E30 Flanges & Halfshafts UUC S.S. I remember the days when flat panel were the laughing stock of the industry. Gamers hated the jaggies on TFT during gameplays. I cant beleive how far of a price drop they have gone. 26" are now running for around $599 | | | 10-17-2005, 10:31 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2005 Location: England, UK Posts: 1,288 | i got a tft for the simple reason of..... space saving! Edit: errr... i can't think straight, though a flat panel was a tft for a sec.. __________________ 1995 BMW 316i Cosmos Black Mods: Magnex Cat-Back Exhaust Smoked Corner Lights + Repeators M3 17" Wheels De-Baffled Air Box AC HandBrake Handle and Gear Knob DEPO Euro Epsiloids + Predator Chronium Rings Chrome Interior bits IE Poly-Urethane RSFMs Kenwood Power Series Audio Powder Coated e36 325 Front Callipers Sports Seats | | | 10-18-2005, 03:29 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Minneapolis Posts: 1,587 | A little off-topic, but I helped a neighbor move a 36" Sony CRT TV the other day. HOLY CRAP was that thing a monster!! I think it's listed at like 230 lbs, but it felt like 500 lbs. | | | 10-18-2005, 11:16 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Melbourne, Fl/Athens, AL Posts: 393 | Well, really it depends on how old the CRT is, too. My old 21" diamondtron Gateway at 100% brightness is comparable to my new 19" Samsung with the brightness set to 0. Granted, I'd love to have a few TFTs, but I'm far too cheap to pay for the real-estate that I like to have. -=Kenneth=- | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
