I don't think the Eaton M62 is a good canidate. I've looked at it close and it won't fit like the MP62 that the DASC uses. They are two totally different castings but use the same internal parts. Your better off finding a used DASC or going turbo | | | 01-23-2009, 09:56 PM | #4 | Junior Member Join Date: Sep 2008 Location: Covina, CA Posts: 12 | A DIY supercharger project using an Eaton M45/62 is much more complicated than a DIY turbo project. For a turbo build, all you really need is decent welding skills to fab up a downtube as most other parts can be purchased. A supercharger build takes much more skill because you will in all likelyhood have to fab up a custom intake manifold and some way of adapting the TB to the SC. Check out this guy's thread on a DIY SC build using an M45 on an E30 325... http://www.e30zone.net/modules.php?n...=asc&start=250 If you select a turbo properly and aren't looking for more than a 50% gain in HP, turbo lag will not be an issue. The power delivery should be similar to an SC. Now if you pick a turbo that will give you 400HP out of an m42, then you can expect alot of lag. | | | 01-23-2009, 11:47 PM | #5 | Junior Member Join Date: Sep 2008 Location: Nebraska Posts: 20 | im lookin to get about 250whp. but i cannot get into that link, and i cant register at the site but thanks for the info! | | | 01-24-2009, 04:42 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2008 Location: Oceanside, CA Posts: 421 | Since I'm installing a DASC on my Z3 (M44), I bought this book. One of the installation example it gives is a twin-screw (not Roots) installation on an BMW M44. It also gives you an idea of what to consider when doing a custom installation (blower displacement, pulley size, boost, intercooler size, etc). I would recommend it big times, particularly if you're thinking about a custom setup: regardless your knowledge and experience with SCs, I think having a structured and organized way to think the project through can only benefit the outcome. __________________ 2003 Z4 2.5i 2002 Ducati Monster S4 | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Thread Tools | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
