I ask as I think the M42 pulleys are different than a M44's. Artem can probably comment here. __________________ 1998 318ti Sport - "Cali" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, Cali top 1998 318ti Sport - "Max" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, S52 1997 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior 1995 318ti Active - "Blanca" Alpineweib III/Schwartz leather interior Other Current Bimmers: 2006 530i / 2000 2.3L Z3 / 1997 1.9L Z3 / 1999 540it 1997 318ti Sport - "Huera" - RIP 1995 318ti Active - RIP 1995 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Sold 1994 325i Sedan - "Jade" - Sold 1991 318ic - "Bert" - Sold 1985 635csi sold 1984 533i "Max" Sold 1984 318i sold BMWCCA #160411 SUPPORT 318ti.org! Is that a pic of a E36/7 engine bay? When I spoke with Jim at Downing, the intake for the blower is different between the E36/5 (180 degree bend) and the E36/7 (135 degree bend). Brake booster/resivoir clearance differences. I know as I was evaluating picking up a DASD from a Z3 M44 for my 1997 318ti. Jim at Downing says they can special order machine one if needed. ($300) I chose to wait and obtained one from a 97 318ti. FYI, The intake manifold is a straight bolt on for either a M42/M44. I believe Artem picked on up from a M42 and had to find different pulleys for his M44. FWIW, this kit looks in great shape with most of the parts needed for a pre 97. (M44 vs. M42 might be the difference) I believe there is an adapter plate needed if installed on a 97+ M44 if the EMS is not flashed, i.e. Nick's software. __________________ 1998 318ti Sport - "Cali" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, Cali top 1998 318ti Sport - "Max" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, S52 1997 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior 1995 318ti Active - "Blanca" Alpineweib III/Schwartz leather interior Other Current Bimmers: 2006 530i / 2000 2.3L Z3 / 1997 1.9L Z3 / 1999 540it 1997 318ti Sport - "Huera" - RIP 1995 318ti Active - RIP 1995 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Sold 1994 325i Sedan - "Jade" - Sold 1991 318ic - "Bert" - Sold 1985 635csi sold 1984 533i "Max" Sold 1984 318i sold BMWCCA #160411 SUPPORT 318ti.org! I know that DASC's will all mount to either M42 or M44 intakes/heads, but I was thinking that the M44 throttle body (ICV mount on the TB, rather than under the intake manifold) might have been the reason for the 135* vs. 180* elbow. Again, I don't know this is as fact, which is why I was hoping someone with an M44 DASC could chime in. __________________ 1995 318ti Base - Cosmosschwarz/Sandgrau R.I.P. 1997 318ti Active - Alpinweiß III/Sandgrau 2013 328i Coupe - Le Mans Blau | | | 05-05-2013, 08:19 PM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2011 Location: south wales uk Posts: 135 | mines a m44 setup but (uk car) and I have a mate that has the m42 that fitted the same kit as mine link to his thread as he's not on here http://www.bmwforums.info/projects/2...he-bbk-11.html and he shows in his thread how he got around the different idler pulley setup by replacing the oil filter housing | | | 05-05-2013, 08:45 PM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2012 Location: Sacramento, CA Posts: 2,451 | Quote: Originally Posted by zoner Yes, the picture is from an E36/7, but if you look at where the ICV mounts on the throttle body, it doesn't look like there would be adequate clearance between the ICV and blower if it were a 180* bend. My throttle intake is the 180 degree version for the E36/5. The picture is for a M44 post emissions DASC kit. I saw some pictures of Hugo's setup where they made a small bracket to secure the ICV securly underneath the throttle body. The previous owner of my DASC likely just left the ICV hanging as in the picture. When I'm done, mine will look like Hugo's setup as far as the ICV. I don't see the plates present in the picture for this kit to support a M44, but I suspect Jim at Downing could fab them for a price. That's why I suspect this kit would be an easy bolt on for a M42 and some parts needed for a M44. Still a better price than what mine ended up being. Mine was a lower cost, not rebuilt and I had to get the belt, hose, missing bracket and a AFPR. in the end, it was higher cost than this kit. This kit, for a M44, it will likely need the plates discussed, the pulley's reviewd for belt compatability and any other plates/adapters for 96+ air emissions changes from a M42. If you send the barcode ID from the top of the Eaton blower, Downing can send you a CARB compliance sticker if your state requires it for SMOG testing. I don't see the barcode on the kit blower. Perhaps it was relocated. I came out of retirement/vacation land and back into the working world this last week so, car projects are on hold till I get stable in my new role. __________________ 1998 318ti Sport - "Cali" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, Cali top 1998 318ti Sport - "Max" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, S52 1997 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior 1995 318ti Active - "Blanca" Alpineweib III/Schwartz leather interior Other Current Bimmers: 2006 530i / 2000 2.3L Z3 / 1997 1.9L Z3 / 1999 540it 1997 318ti Sport - "Huera" - RIP 1995 318ti Active - RIP 1995 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Sold 1994 325i Sedan - "Jade" - Sold 1991 318ic - "Bert" - Sold 1985 635csi sold 1984 533i "Max" Sold 1984 318i sold BMWCCA #160411 SUPPORT 318ti.org!
