Default 1998 M44 1.9 L

Just purchased my 318ti earlier this week and I haven't found any manuals or IPB's for it yet.

Can anyone tell me if this engine has a timing CHAIN or a timing BELT?

Thanks!

That's going to be a CHAIN. :-)

At the risk of exposing my ignorance... what's an "IPB"??

No worries... you're looking for...

realoem.com

You'll need the last 7 digits of your VIN, and you'll be able to browse parts illustrations until your eyes cross. LOL

Thanks much!
Mallard ran the VIN for me so I know what I've got. Just need the ills!

318ti.... i love it. We're running through the Wasatch Range this weekend.

I'm glad I could be of help. Somewhere around here we've got a thread with a bunch of useful links. Ah... here it is.
