My 318ti is idling really bad  and the CEL is on for P1140 and P0505  Can anyone give me any advice to fixing this please! __________________

If after you do all that and still get the errors most likely the CCV valve is bad. Yes the engine sounds like it wants to turn off :confuse: and when I drive it the rpm bounces __________________

John S | Okay I cleaned the ICV and MAF and I still have the problem I ordered the PCV (CCV) today hopefully that fixes the problem. I noticed the car only idles high when I have it in Park or Neutral but when I put it in drive the idle drops this tends to happen when the car is fully warm. __________________

I think that John is talking about the rubber elbow(s).
I'd wonder if your MAF is done, a cleaning may not be enough. If you have an aftermarket intake I would lean more in this direction. I had a bad throttle position sensor which had crazy stuff going on when driving, random rpm drop and surge.
Definitely make sure its not a vacuum leak. Intake boots, fuel injector air hoses, random vacuum lines, brake booster line, PCV hose, etc. Spray brake cleaner on each one individually, if the idle goes crazy you found the culprit. __________________ ~Dave~
