I was doing about 40 MPH on 3rd gear, and he kept pressing and releasing the gas fully.... so I rolled down my window (5% limo tint) and gave him a smile.... I downshifted to second gear and lit up the 18" tires... when I heard a LOUD BANG! BOOM! TRAS! PLAK! PLAK PLAK PLAK PLAK, GRRRRRIIICHH...... Yes... I broke a FU#&*$G AXEL! the right one.. snapped it. They lasted less tham 1 week. | | | 01-11-2005, 11:45 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Long Beach area Posts: 1,189 | AWW NO WAY!!!! sorry to hear that man...hopefully you'll get it fixed really soon. -Randy __________________ 97 Jet Black 318ti Sport. I had the same thing happen to me in another car at the track. Got up in the staging lane, launched, shot forward about 2 feet, heard a loud pop followed by a bunch of clanging underneath the car. I turned it off, pushed it off the track and sure enough I had made 1/4 shafts out of my half shafts. I guess it's time for you to upgrade to something a little heavier duty | | | 01-12-2005, 12:34 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: Tampa Posts: 465 | welll the question is WHAT SHOULD I USE??? I have a set of E30 M3 axels, but the part that goes in the bearing by the wheel doesn't match and CANNOT BE CHANGED. (at least that's what my mechanic told me, because the E30 axels are pressed and sealed on t he wheel end.... now, I have an S52 engine with a 3.25 LSD... and I used the Ti stock axels... You might not be able to connect them directly to your diff. What diff are you running? SL Quote: Originally Posted by maurolin welll the question is WHAT SHOULD I USE??? That or have a custom set made. | | | 01-13-2005, 05:16 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: Tampa Posts: 465 | fixed today.... installed E30 M3 axels, and a new 3.25 LSD. now a 3.73 for sale. took all day.... but you should of seen this axel... looks like it came off a grinder! | | | 01-13-2005, 05:57 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Tyler, TX Posts: 1,022 | Quote: Originally Posted by maurolin fixed today.... installed E30 M3 axels, and a new 3.25 LSD. now a 3.73 for sale. took all day.... but you should of seen this axel... looks like it came off a grinder! | Is it the diff and gear, or just the gear?
