Yes I am the original owner. Don't have the code. What dealer did you go to that you got it for free? Did you have to bring in your car? | | | 08-02-2011, 11:42 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Quote: Originally Posted by adrianpl I have the VIN number. I don't know why a dealer would do it for free unless they knew you. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 08-02-2011, 07:53 PM | #8 | Junior Member Join Date: Jul 2011 Location: NYC Posts: 4 | bump. I go back and forth from Philly and Arlington, Va. I never set foot in BMW of Alexandria before and they did mine for nothing. BMW of the Mainline in Philly has done several of mine free. Just call another dealership. If you haven't gotten it by Friday, pm me and I'll see what I can do. | | | 09-15-2011, 07:32 AM | #10 | Junior Member Join Date: Sep 2011 Location: US Posts: 4 | Quote: Originally Posted by adrianpl I need the Code for BMW Business radio. There should be a card with the code located inside of the leather case that the owner's manual comes in. | | | 01-31-2012, 10:50 PM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: Los Angeles, CA Posts: 1,464 | Now it's my turn... On the '97 I just picked up, the PO installed a BMW Business CD player. He wrote the code on the inside of the owner's manual as well as on the unit itself. The problem is that the code he wrote is a four digit number when the unit is asking for a five digit number. The shop here called BMW for the code, based on the S/N of the head unit (the VIN wont work, since the unit is not native to the car it is installed in) and got a five digit code. This still does not work. They've been trying for about a half day now to get the code input correctly and have so far been unsuccessful. Not sure what to do now... anyone have any suggestions? UPDATE- (and this just sounds as ridiculously crazy as it does believable) So apparently the four digit codes are Euro codes and the five digit codes are USA codes. To enter a Euro code, you have to put the unit into service mode, change the area code from USA --> Euro, enter the four digit code to unlock the unit, go back into service mode to change the area code back Euro --> USA, problem solved.
